For many UK organisations, the conversation is moving from: “Do we have the right security controls?” to: “Can we continue operating if a critical system, supplier or cloud service is compromised?” That means looking beyond firewalls and endpoint protection to: ➡️ Identity and privileged-access management. ➡️ Immutable and tested backups. ➡️ Supplier and third-party risk. ➡️ Recovery time and recovery-point objectives. ➡️ Incident-response rehearsals. ➡️ The resilience of critical business services. Andrew M. shared thisThe memory crisis isn’t just hitting servers, PCs, and storage anymore — it’s now hitting consumer electronics too - especially gaming :/ Some of the top Steam Machine engineers from Valve corporation have said retail memory prices are lagging the bulk market by around 3 to 6 months, and that things are “still getting worse.” In plain English: the pain we’re seeing now may only be the beginning. For businesses, this matters. If consumer devices, gaming hardware, and mainstream electronics are already feeling the squeeze, then enterprise IT is not going to be immune — especially when it comes to RAM, SSDs, and other storage-dependent kit. The lesson is simple: don’t wait for pricing to “settle down.” If you know you’ll need hardware, refreshes, spares, or project stock in the next few months, start locking in pricing and securing supply now rather than hoping the market improves on its own. Because I’ve seen this happen. The person naming the problem suddenly gets labeled difficult, emotional, or “not a team player.” Toxic workplaces don’t always fall apart because people are bad at their jobs. They fall apart because the wrong people get protected. And the person who finally says, “This isn’t right,” somehow becomes the problem. If you’re in that kind of environment, be smart. Don’t over-explain. Say what needs to be said and stop. Don’t react in the moment. That’s usually what they’re waiting for. Pay attention to patterns... Who gets blamed? Who gets protected? Who benefits when everything stays messy? And document what you observe. Dates. Emails. Decisions. Conversations. Not because you’re trying to start a war. Because memory gets challenged when accountability shows up. Healthy workplaces deal with problems. Toxic workplaces deal with the person who exposed them. Don’t confuse silence with safety. Where to build the data center. A question raised by Nvidia CEO last week. Elon Musk is taking it to space, and Samsung is taking it offshore. This not only solves the space problem but also helps reduce freshwater use. The cooling runs off seawater instead. Not much is being said about the sea life and how this affects it. Reducing freshwater use is a shiny headline, but we need to make sure this doesn’t hurt the ecosystem even further. Are you with or against this idea? Would you prefer orbital data centers instead? Andrew M. liked thisAndrew M. liked thisSales Development is the hardest job in tech today. Most will say it's the VP Sales but this is only because Sales Development rolls up to them. I receive a constant stream of phone calls and DMs from Sales Dev leaders considering switching back to an individual contributor AE role. This isn't because they're bad at their jobs. It's because everyone is expecting their outreach to go viral overnight. Sales Development doesn't work like that. You'll find some low hanging fruit quickly but it's mostly a long game. You're strategically gathering information at each touch-point and compiling this data over time to make more strategic outreaches MoM and YoY. The game compounds over time into meaningful results... like a snowball rolling down a hill, it starts out small. If you want to know why your SDR team is missing quota, ask your SDRs. Very rarely does the majority of the team say it's their leader's fault. Almost always the CEO thinks they need a new Sales Dev leader. Sales Development is the hardest job... don't lose sight of that reality. The only thing that makes it harder is unnecessarily starting from scratch.
