  • I worked with a UK based manufacturing and engineering business recently who asked me to support them in sourcing an Operation’s Manager for their business. Now I have worked with this business for about 5 years and have placed multiple candidates with them during this time. I enjoy recruiting for them as my expertise and network is in their sector, they are transparent, they don’t waste time, whilst fitting into my own values and ethics. Our arrangement and relationship is built on me having proved myself over the years and therefore being their last call as an external supplier, should they not be able to source candidates themselves, which I am absolutely fine with. So in this instance they had tried everything to hire for an Operations Manager, came close but couldn’t find the right person. On the 28th of Feb I took the brief on, and by the 1st of April the role had been offered and accepted, after having met 3 candidates at first interview and then one candidate at final interview. Yes, in the end it has cost them a fee for my services, but the service that was provided is valued and appreciated by them, as it helped them solve a problem, that now allows their business to kick on and grow further, to achieve long term business objectives. If you are going through a similar experience where you are going round in circles recruiting for a position you can’t fill (for whatever reasons) then I urge you to seek a recruiter (if you haven’t got one) that you can trust, where you align well with each other. Give them a chance to solve a problem that you cannot. It will be well worth it irrespective of any fees you will have to pay, and allows you to move on to focus on other business critical matters.
