Our zero-emission #Enviro100EV demonstrator has been on trial with Sargeants in Hereford over the last few weeks, working alongside low-emission #Enviro200 in our customer's fleet. Great to hear the positive feedback from Matthew Evans – thanks for giving the "big small bus" a try and sharing your experience!
Thanks to ADL for allowing Sargeants to trial the all new EV ADL 100 in the streets of Hereford City over the last couple of weeks, we have been super impressed with this bus, completing shifts with sufficient battery capacity, smooth and comfortable experience for the driver and the passengers. Thanks to Simon Wood and Mark Taylor.

Alexander Dennis recently participated in an multi-day event organised by Transport for London to demonstrate the outcome of a 10-year development process to adopt Advanced Emergency Braking Systems (AEBS) for urban buses, allowing stakeholders to experience the way in which the system and related safety features operate. The AEBS reacts to stationary or slower moving vehicles as well as crossing pedestrians in front of the bus, warning the driver and automatically applying the brakes if necessary to avoid or mitigate the severity of a collision. Over the course of the event, a next-generation Enviro100EV was put through situations that caused the AEBS to activate, proving its accuracy and safety benefits for all road users. Our Head of Concepts & Advanced Engineering Jamie Wilson and Regional Product Manager Tim Morris explained and presented our implementation of AEBS to TfL representatives as well as bus operators, drivers, driver mentors, training managers, suppliers, engineers and safety managers. Tim said: “Transport for London has led groundbreaking work on bus safety with the development and refinement of its Bus Safety Standard as it works towards achieving Vision Zero. We’re proud to have fully supported this work right from the beginning, and it’s great to see the results and understand how this will make London’s streets even safer for everyone.” Alexander Dennis has supported Transport for London throughout the development process of its Bus Safety Standard, from making vehicles available for early AEBS testing nearly a decade ago to the final real-world implementation happening now in our next-generation electric buses for London. In addition to AEBS, our next-generation buses for London are fitted with further safety technologies including a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) that warns drivers of the presence of vulnerable road users on the nearside of the vehicle, and a Move Off Information System (MOIS) that provides a similar warning when pedestrians or cyclists are in close proximity to the front of the vehicle as it is about to move off after stopping.

We were proud to join consortium partners last week in Cambridge for the #Connector showcase event, providing stakeholders with an update on the UK's leading autonomous bus trial. Our Head of Concepts & Advanced Engineering Jamie Wilson joined partners from the Greater Cambridge Partnership, Fusion Processing Ltd, Anthrometric and Whippet to summarise what has been achieved so far and look ahead to the further testing planned for the remainder of the project. Three Alexander Dennis #Enviro100AEV self-driving electric buses are now available to support the timetabled trial passenger service to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus as well as additional testing and research.

We were proud to be headline sponsor of the Public Transport Wales & the West Conference this week, hosted by Buses Magazine. The event provided a key forum for discussing the future of public transport across Wales and the West of England, with insightful presentations, panel discussions and fantastic networking opportunities throughout the event. Our Regional Sales Manager Simon Wood, who represented Alexander Dennis at the conference alongside AD24 colleagues Peter Williams and Mark Taylor, reflected on the event: "It was great to spend time with operators, local authorities, suppliers and industry leaders from across the sector as we explored the next phase of transport in Wales and the West. We gained great insight into the infrastructure, franchising, and various other challenges for the industry". Thank you to all the attendees, speakers and organisers for a fantastic event. We're excited to continue supporting progress across the region. #PTWW26 #PublicTransport #Wales #WestofEngland #BusFranchising #SustainableTransport

We've delivered three #Enviro100EV small buses to The Go-Ahead Group's Go South Coast Ltd for its Salisbury Reds fleet as part of a wider investment by the operator in zero-emission buses. Each electric bus has 26 seats including tip-ups in the wheelchair bay, with a total capacity of 45 passengers. There are USB charging points at all seats, and the buses are fully PSVAIR-compliant, with next-stop audio/visual announcements, audio loops, and a dementia-friendly internal colour scheme. The Enviro100EV is our ‘big small bus’: at a compact 8.5m long and 2.35m wide, it’s ideal for narrow town streets and country lanes without losing the ‘big bus feel’ that passengers like. This manoeuvrability will be of full advantage on the buses’ allocated routes Red4, Red6 and Red8, which provide access to housing estates and neighbouring villages. Ed Wills, Go South Coast Managing Director, said: “These smaller buses are the first of our 30 brand new electric vehicles, following our successful bid, in partnership with Wiltshire Council, for funding from the Department for Transport’s ZEBRA 2 (Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas) scheme. “The new vehicles will enable us to serve more challenging routes – giving even more of our customers the opportunity to opt for sustainable transport. They have a distinct appearance, and those living in or visiting Salisbury and the surrounding area will be sure to notice them.” Our National Account Manager Mark Ballam added: “It’s a joy to see our ‘big small bus’ hit the streets of Wiltshire in the fantastic Salisbury Reds livery. They look wonderful and they’re perfect for the kind of services they’ll be used on, cutting out tailpipe emissions while enhancing accessibility for all with their spacious and welcoming interior. “We’re delighted that our Enviro100EV is the right fit for Go South Coast in Salisbury, with these three buses playing a vital role in the electrification of the local bus network.”
