Single player games have much shorter playtime than the most popular multiplayer games like dota 2 and csgo. Game sales in 2024 so far arent significantly different from other years.
Im glad chinese videogames are seeing some light recently. Other giant hits would be stuff like warm snow, guijian 3, tales of immortal, unheard, bright memory.

We should redefine indie as multiple categories like "small team" or "under a certain budget" as that better celebrates a wider range of experiences.
I dont think consumers care, have accurate awareness of, or consider the publishing.
