What audience is nearly 3X more likely to game and more than 2X more likely to create content when compared to the general population? Anime fans. And most brands are still overlooking them. Still think anime is a niche? 45 billion minutes of anime was streamed in the U.S. last year. That’s not a subculture, that’s one of the most valuable, most overlooked audiences in media. This fandom lives across mediums, not parked on one screen. And they've got the wallet and spending power to match. 3 in 5 are the chief income earner in their household. Among millennials, it's more than 2 in 3. The takeaway for marketers: this fandom is everywhere. Your brand needs to be too. • More than 160 television programs. Over 25 networks and platforms. Since 2020 alone, audiences have spent 12.2 billion minutes with Dolly Parton’s films and series. That’s more than 23,000 years worth of watching. Dolly Parton was a musical genius and anyone who ever heard her sing or play knew it. But as the world remembers the power of her voice, many audiences got to know her on screen. She was on television weekly for eight years on The Porter Wagoner Show starting in 1967, 218 episodes deep. The iconic 9 to 5 carried her from theaters onto cable, where it has logged 784 million minutes of viewing since 2020. Dolly stopped 19.1 million people midway on The Simpsons the night after the Super Bowl in 1999. Remember that? She voiced a garden gnome for a new generation in Gnomeo & Juliet. She sang her way through Joyful Noise a year later. And on Netflix, Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings introduced her all over again. Designing Women, Hannah Montana, or a Dallas Cowboys halftime show: every era of television had a place for Dolly Parton. Every generation over seven decades found something to love in her performances. Today, we remember the songs. We also remember everything else she gave us, one screen at a time. What’s your favorite Dolly moment? #NielsenInsights #DollyParton

  • 🏀 30 seasons down for the WNBA and viewership is at an all time high. From record-breaking attendance and rising viewership to another standout All-Star Weekend, women's basketball continues to reach new heights. The first half of the 2026 season generated 3.8 billion minutes viewed, while nearly 50% more games drew audiences of one million viewers or more compared to recent seasons. But that's only part of the story. The growth of the WNBA reflects a broader shift across women's sports. New audiences are discovering leagues, athletes and communities they connect with, transforming casual viewers into passionate fans. For brands and advertisers, the opportunity extends far beyond a single season. As women's sports continue to grow, so does the ability to connect with highly engaged and increasingly influential audiences. Thirty seasons later, the fandom is only getting stronger. Three shows crossed a billion minutes in a single week. That almost never happens. Our Streaming Top 10 recently saw a rare milestone: three titles each clearing a billion viewing minutes in the same interval. 🏡 Little House on the Prairie claimed #1 on Netflix with 1.175 billion minutes, up 27% from its debut week 💥 The Big Bang Theory hit 1.076 billion on HBO Max – its first billion-minute week in 168 Top 10 appearances 🧽 SpongeBoB SquarePants crossed 1.005 billion on Paramount+, fueled by the inaugural SpongeBoB Dat celebration that spiked viewing by 51%. Other intriguing findings? Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios’ Ride or Die opened at #6 with 869 million minutes, drawing a 64% female audience, a notable complement to Prime Video’s typically male-skewing originals. World Cup 2026 may be over, but is the fandom sticking around? ⚽ The Premier League returns today, bringing back one of the tournament's breakout stars, Erling Haaland, back in Manchester City colors. It’s already the third most-watched soccer league in the U.S., and soccer fans are far more active on social media than the general population with 79.5% using it for sports news and content. That combination makes Haaland’s return a real test case: does World Cup attention carry over once the tournament ends or fade with it? For brands and advertisers, tracking that shift matters 👉 Don't miss the opportunity to connect with fans as the excitement continues into club football. • The radio is a true testament to time. 📻 For more than a century, radio has informed, connected, and united audiences through history's defining moments. From President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Fireside Chats to breaking news about Pearl Harbor and the soundtrack of Woodstock, radio has remained a trusted source through every era. While the moments have changed, radio's role hasn't. Today, 8 in 10 consumers say it's important to have access to real-time traffic and local news through their vehicle. And despite more ways than ever to listen, AM/FM radio still accounts for 55% of all in-car audio listening. For advertisers, that trust and daily reach matter. Understanding how audiences value the radio can help brands connect with consumers in moments that still command attention. And that host city effect stretched across the country: • Seattle: +19% • Dallas: +18% • New York: +14% • Los Angeles: +13% The numbers show just how quickly a major sporting moment can capture a city and turn excitement into lasting fandom. For advertisers, knowing where that fandom is growing and what’s driving it can uncover new opportunities to connect with highly engaged audiences. • What fans watch is only half the story. What they buy tells you the rest. In Episode 5 of The Round Out, Jeremi Gorman, Senior Advisor to Fanatics Advertising and founding investor in Angel City FC, joins our hosts Julie DeTraglia and Brian Fuhrer to share her perspective on fandom from an angle few others see: what fans actually buy, collect, and follow all year, not just on game day. Last year 91 million Americans bought team gear with a logo on it. That transaction data tells a different story than the ratings do, one that’s more female, more multicultural, and more year-round than most sports marketing assumes. Case in point: almost half of all NFL merch buyers are women. Gorman’s take on where brands miss: fans don’t move on as fast as marketers do. Win a title and you’ve got fans for life, if you keep showing up after the final whistle. Listen now: https://lnkd.in/eFmuN7uK #TheRoundOut #Nielsen #SportsMarketing #FanEconomy
