Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Updates
At release, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has included mulitple potential DLC downloads for players to expand their experience in game. These include the Sakuna DLC, which brings the star of Sakuna: Rice and Ruin into Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma as a Villager and Party member, engaging in combat, or helping with farming, being particularly good with rice.
Additional DLC includes different outfits for the bachelorettes in game, all from Rune Factory 4, a previous entry in the same series. As well as the Super Digital Deluxe DLC Set, and the Deluxe DLC Set. These include the Seasons of Love bundle, allowing the player character to romance 
Pilika and 
Cuilang, as well as additional costumes for multiple characters and, in the case of the Super Digital Deluxe Set, the Digital Soundtrack and Digital Art Book. These are all available from relevant storefronts such as Steam or the Nintendo E-Shop.

The Celestial Collapse—a calamity caused by a colossal object crashing into the eastern lands known as Azuma. The devastating impact sent fragments of terrain to the skies above and the seas below. The classic action-RPG and life-simulation gameplay beloved by Rune Factory fans across the globe is boldly reimagined in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. This all-new adventure takes place in the never-before-seen eastern country of Azuma, where you will become an Earth Dancer and fight against the corruption spreading throughout Azuma to bring hope back to this once-prosperous land.
Players will experience the Eastern territory of Azuma for the first time, a land of Japanese-inspired visuals and unique twists on familiar gameplay elements from the Rune Factory franchise. Those playing on Nintendo Switch 2 will experience the title in a higher resolution with improved frame rates, along with Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for village building.
Choose from one of two protagonists whose destinies are intertwined by mysterious forces. Use sacred instruments to fight against the Blight’s many forms and restore the land to its natural glory. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has now released for PC, Switch and Switch 2! Players can finally set foot the in lands of Azuma and explore the world alongside faithful companions, potential love interests, and more!
Pre-Release:
A new trailer has been released, highlighting Sakuna, from Sakuna: Rice and Ruin. This character will be available as part of a Free DLC Collaboration pack, and will be available as a recruit, joining your party to participate in battle, alongside Tama, her faithful guardian. She can even help with Rice farming.
Don’t be fooled by her diminutive size and choice of weapons, Sakuna has more experience fighting with farming implements than most warriors and is a capable companion on any adventure. Back at the village, don’t miss out on conversations with the Harvest Goddess featuring all-new voice over. Plus, Sakuna and Tama can assist with village tasks, including farming her specialty, rice!

According to a tweet by the Rune Factory PR account, players will be able to use a technique to change their story, allowing them to date and marry multiple different characters across different versions of their timeline.
All of a player's progress remains intact, so they can return to their main storyline whenever they wish, and may have up to 30 alternatives to explore what could have been.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma now has an updated launch date of June 5, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch™ system and Windows PC via Steam. The latest entry in the popular action-RPG and life-simulation series will now launch alongside the Nintendo Switch™ 2 version simultaneously.
The Publisher also announced that those who have pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch version of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be able to play on the new platform with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Details regarding the upgrade pack will be available at a later date.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to the previously announced Nintendo Switch™ and Windows PC via Steam platforms.
The title will be released on June 5, 2025 for Nintendo Switch 2 with physical pre-orders available soon through participating retailers. Physical pre-orders for Nintendo Switch are currently available for both the standard edition and the Limited Edition, which comes in a custom outer box and includes a physical copy of the game, an original soundtrack consisting of 56 tracks across two CDs, a 160-page art book, an Azuma-inspired folding fan, a plush Woolby keychain, and a substantial DLC pack, which includes the “Seasons of Love Bundle,” the “Festive Attire and Dark Woolby Bundle,” the “Rune Factory 4 Hero Outfit Bundle,” the “Rune Factory 4 Bachelorette Outfit Bundle,” and the Useful Item Bundle.
Along with physical editions, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be available digitally on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Windows PC via Steam. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Environments
Set in the lands of Azuma, a new region for the Rune Factory series, the player will traverse several seasonal themed landscapes, namely Spring Village, Summer Village, Autumn Village, and Winter Village. Each of these has their own theming, style and associated God. Once the player has access to them, it's up them to build on the base structure, with shops, crops, and more. In addition they will be responsible for assigning villagers to key roles in each village. One point of note is that villagers have a daily cost, so players should be careful when assigning roles.
Village Building
Players will have access to a variety of Buildings, Decorations and more, allowing them to design a village based on the design that suits them. Subaru
Left his cold village in the northern part of Azuma on a mission to save the land. Childhood friends with Kaguya, who hails from the same hometown. Usually relaxed and easy-going. Enjoys gazing at the sky. While generally not a fan of battle, he has a strong sense of justice, and will fight fiercely to protect his friends and loved ones.
Kaguya
Left her cold village in the northern part of Azuma on a mission to save the land. Childhood friends with Subaru, who hails from the same hometown. Loves being in nature, especially interacting with animals and observing flowers. Although usually calm, she despises evil and resents any acts of injustice.
Woolby
The protagonist's loyal partner and guide. A bit of a braggart and a klutz. His gluttonous nature makes him susceptible to sweet bribes, especially dango.
Ulalaka
Azuma's kind, gentle god of spring and merriment. Her benevolence knows no bounds, and she simply wants everyone to live happy, peaceful lives.
Matsuri
Azuma's carefree god of summer and swords. Enjoys physical activities of all kinds. Despite being a master of the blade, she tends to solve problems with brute force instead.
Kurama
Azuma's calm, cool-headed god of autumn and the wind. Well-versed in a wide variety of subjects. Due to his tactical nature, he excels at every game imaginable, both ancient and modern.
Fubuki
Azuma's warmhearted wolf god of winter and water. A somewhat anxious soul who hates to hurt others.
Kai
A leader of the oni feared for his incredible strength. Although a bit selfish and rough around the edges, he treats his retainers well. Always wears a mask that hides his true face.
Kanata
Azuma's god of light and the heavens. Acts as the gods' official representative. Serious and intelligent, but also prone to flights of fancy.

What is Rune Factory?
Rune Factory is a series of games, beginning as a spin off to the Story of Seasons franchise (originally harvest moon). They are primarily farming and social simulation games, but also have dungeon crawling and combat elements mixed into gameplay, providing a wide range of experiences. Typically they involve a hero who has to save the land from an enemy of some sort, while building and maintaining friendships, farms, villages and more. They are typically set in a fantasy region or time period, and each features their own cast of characters, individual areas and stories.
Gameplay is similar to titles like Harvest Moon, where a player will grow crops, use farm equipment, and more. Players can also befriend monsters, which can cause them to assist in battle or even serve as a mount for the player. Combat tends to be action orientated, with the ability to build parties of NPCs to accompany the player on their journies.
Rune Factory games tend to have a linear storyline, which involves exploration and expansion of the player area. They can also engage in romance with key characters, allowing them to gain benefits or even marry a key person. Some games require this to proceed in the story. Typically they will all have some form of Farming, Monster battling, Cooking and Crafting, and Relationships with NPCs to grow and develop.

Seasonal Villages
As part of the story, the player will gain access to a range of villages which they will be able to rebuild and customise to their liking. Village Building provides resources for crafting and cooking, opportunities for relationship building and even buffs to the character and their party. It is recommended that players spend time on this to get the most out of their time in the lands of Azuma.
NPCs & Gods
Players will interact with a vide variety of NPCs, some of which are the very Gods associated with the Villages they help to build. These range from the cheerful Teahouse owner 
Iroha to the surly 
Kai. Players can build relationships, gain boons and rewards, and romance a select amount of these NPCs.
Sacred Treasures
Gods will provide the players an additional bonus in the form of Sacred Treasures. These are mysterious and powerful artifacts imbused with elemental powers, associated with the God that provides them. Each Sacred Treasure wields unique combat and utility abilities, such as cleaning corruption, supporting allies, enhancing Crop growth or improving mobility.
Dance Skills
Dance skills are tied to the Sacred Treasures, and unlock powerful special moves. These skills typically consume RP and rely on Spirit Bars to activate enhanced forms. Each Tree offers unique elemental attacks, buffs, healing or area control depending on the Sacred Treasure in question.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Quests and Objectives
Rune Factory: GOA has a multitude of quests available throughout the story. Players will need to engagae in a variety to progress the story, but some quests are optional and are only required if a player is seeking to complete a specific objective or bond with someone in a closer way:
Bonding Quests
Bonding Quests are typically provided by NPCs and are required to build your bond further with them. Some of them are as simple as visiting a particular location, but others require reaching a particular bond level, or gifting specific items to that NPC.
Ema Plaque Quests
Villagers can request specific items or tasks, usually by writing it on a board and placing it on a request board. These range from providing items, cooking with someone or even planting a specific kind of crop.
Azuma Quests
Players will also find quests throughout the world, from cleaning up leaves at the Jizo statues, finding the Frog statues, and more, these are typically wider ranging "collectable" quests, requiring a large amount of tasks or items, with some exceptions.
Personal Requests
Some NPCs and Villagers will have specific requests that are revealed as you grow closer to them and speak to them. These are typically item deliveries, but can range to more extravagant requests.
