After two and a half hours, I’m sitting in front of the screen with a huge grin on my face, wishing it could go on. Finding Polka proves that a game doesn’t have to be complicated to be captivating. One analog stick, one button, and an artist with boundless imagination are all it takes. The gameplay is simple, almost minimalist. Anyone looking for challenging puzzles or demanding gameplay will be disappointed. But that’s not the point: with his pen, Kumazawa has created a world I could get lost in for hours without ever getting bored. Every corner, every page of this hand-drawn universe bursts with detail, humor, and passion. You don’t play Finding Polka to win, but to marvel at it. And that’s exactly why it has earned a permanent place in my heart.

Finding Polka may not be the biggest or most technically ambitious game of the year, but it does something arguably more difficult: it leaves an impression. It makes players laugh, encourages them to look closely at every corner of its beautifully drawn world, and eventually hits some genuinely emotional notes.

Finding Polka is a cute, cozy walking game that impresses primarily with its beautiful hand-drawn black-and-white style. The gameplay is intentionally simple and offers little challenge or depth, but that isn't always necessary. The strength of this game lies entirely in the atmosphere, the creative details, and the unique world that you can discover at your own pace. Thanks to the compact playtime, the whole experience remains fresh and feels just long enough. If you are looking for a quiet, cozy game where relaxed strolling is more important than spectacular gameplay, then Finding Polka is highly recommended.
