i havent seen this and ive played the web and the steam version. you prob know this but a lot itch.io games dont work unless you tell your browser to allow cookies/storage. in chrome its settings => privacy => sites that can use cookies (whitelist). and apparently you have to add individual sub domains. ie https://cicidigital.itch.io/ just adding this in case ccdg's fix didnt work.
