EA and developer Full Circle have released a new trailer that announces Early Access for skate. This will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on September 16. The game will be free-to-download and include cross-platform and cross-progression support. This means you can utilize your saves across different platforms and generations. The gameplay will return to the Flick-It System, that will be improved and powered by the Frostbite Engine. Rather than using buttons, players will utilize the sticks and can hop the board much like you could in Skate 3. You can check out the trailer below.

“skate. is not just a return, it’s a complete evolution of the franchise that’s built to last," said Mike McCartney, Executive Producer of skate. “Our goal with skate. is to capture the freedom, creative expression and community of skateboarding, and share it with as many people as possible. From day one, our priority has been to honor the legacy of the franchise while pushing it into a bold new future - one built in partnership with our players.”

The City and its Community

Players will be skating in the city of San Vansterdam, which sounds like someone California'd the name Amsterdam. This is a multiplayer skateboarding destination that will include skate spots to land insane tricks and connect with others. Four unique neighborhoods can be traveresed including Hedgemont, Gullcrest, Market Mile and Brickswich. Each neighborhood will have its own unique design and vibe along with specific challenges.

Different skating terrains ranging from parks to plazas and rooftops along with giant ramps. The House of Rolling Reverance will be a former church transformed into a trick haven for players. New tricks including wallies, slappies and firecrackers will be in the game. The Skatepedia will serve as the resource for mastering these tricks and styles while being accessible for players.

“Community is the heart of skateboarding, and it’s the heart of skate.,” said Jeff Seamster, Head of Creative on skate. “From day one, we’ve aimed to create an open, welcoming space shaped by players. We’ve built this game alongside our community - listening, learning and evolving together. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or just dropped in, skate. is a place to express yourself, connect and grow. No gatekeepers, no barriers - just a city built for skating and a community that keeps it alive. Early Access is a huge milestone in that journey, and we’re hyped to keep growing San Vansterdam with our crew around the world.”

The development cycle of skate. has included a collaboration with fans of the series. Player feedback has been utilized along the way via playtesting as Full Circle will continue to monitor this during the Early Access period. Early Access will include new content every season that offers fresh challenges, cosmetics, music, world update and new events. There is no official release date yet for the full release of skate.
