Sam has been writing online about video games since 2016 shortly after graduating college, but he has enjoyed them ever since he first played Crash Bandicoot on his dad's original PlayStation. As a console gamer, he mainly prefers single-player action-adventure games with a focus on story and fast-paced combat, but he's also open to multiplayer games and smaller games with an interesting narrative or gameplay hook. His favorite developers include Rocksteady, Remedy, Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Machine Games among many others. Although most of his gaming is done on PlayStation, he also tries to keep up to date with Nintendo and Xbox games, and also owns a Steam Deck for his less frequent forays into PC gaming. In addition to gaming, Sam enjoys watching wrestling and all sorts of TV shows and movies ranging from sci-fi and action to comedies or dramas. He also occassionally watches sports when his Chicago teams aren't disappointing him, or during key matchups in the postseason for football or basketball.
Today marks the launch of Striking Distance Studios’ debut title, the sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol, wherein inmate Jacob Lee must survive the deadly alien horrors of the Black Iron Prison.
For players who are already craving more gory extraterrestrial violence, the schedule of post-launch content for The Callisto Protocol has been shared via the game’s official Twitter account. On February 7, all players will be able to check out a free update that includes New Game+ and Hardcore Mode, while Season Pass holders will be able to pick up the Outer Way Skin collection. The remaining content at this point in time is only for Season Pass owners, with the Contagion bundle coming in March, the Riot bundle following later that spring, and brand-new story content arriving in the summer. More details and specific release dates will be shared in the coming months.
The Callisto Protocol is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
