Haste is a Level 3 Transmutation Spell in Baldur’s Gate 3 that grants the Hastened Condition. Hastened comes with many benefits but also a major drawback in that the target becomes Lethargic once the effect ends. Lethargic characters are unable to move or take Actions for one turn.

Where to Get Haste in Baldur’s Gate 3

Haste can be learned by the following classes:

  • Sorcerer, Wizard, Circle of the Land Druid and Warlock via the Pact of the Tome Boon at Level 5
  • College of Lore Bard via Magical Secrets at Level 6
  • Oath of Vengeance Paladin at Level 9
  • Bard via Magical Secrets at Level 10

In addition, other classes can also use Haste by equipping the Darkfire Shortbow or using a Potion of Haste.

Notes:

Hastened significantly increases the target’s Movement Speed but doesn’t double it as the description suggests.

Haste uses the Concentration mechanic, which makes the caster unable to concentrate on similar Spells at the same time. If the user casts a different Concentration spell while Haste is still active, the effect of Haste will end early and the second spell will fail.

The extra Action granted by Hastened also applies to Spells, making it a very powerful buff for magic users.

The special version of Haste granted by the Legendary longbow Gontr Mael can only be cast on the weapon’s wielder and lasts half as long as the regular variant. However, there’s also one major upside in that the special version of the spell doesn’t inflict the target with the Lethargic debuff.
