feat: basic image editing (resize to 4K, crop to fit Frame) #79

Description

@danmunz

Summary

Add basic image adjustment tools so users can resize and crop artwork to fit the Samsung Frame TV perfectly — without needing an external image editor.

Motivation

The Frame TV has specific resolution requirements (e.g. exactly 3840×2160 for matte support). Users currently need external tools to prepare images. Built-in resize/crop would streamline the workflow and prevent matte-compatibility issues.

Suggested features

  • Resize: scale an image to a target resolution (e.g. 4K) while preserving aspect ratio, with options for fit/fill
  • Crop: interactive crop to Frame-compatible aspect ratios (16:9, or custom)
  • Could be offered during upload or as an action on existing artwork in the library

Context

A Reddit user reported that "This image doesn't support Matte" errors were resolved by increasing image resolution to exactly 4K — reinforcing the need for easy in-app resizing.

Source

Reddit user feedback (June 2025):

I think it also would be nice if you could do small adjustments to the image. some basic stuff, like changing the resolution of an image so it fits perfectly, do a crop.
