A points scoring system is used at Grands Prix to determine two annual World Championships: one for the drivers, and one for the constructors—now synonymous with teams. Each driver must hold a valid Super Licence, the highest class of racing licence the FIA issues, and the races must be held on Grade One tracks, the highest grade rating the FIA issues for circuits.
It has been owned by the Liberty Media Corporation that bought the group in 2017 for an estimated $8 billion, previously owned by British business magnate Bernie Ecclestone. The new ownership have introduced five Grands Prix—namely the Miami, the Las Vegas, the Saudi Arabian, the Qatar and the Dutch Grand Prix—investing mostly in the American and Middle Eastern market.
