  • Boosting European competitiveness with biology - that’s why we all need friends we can get 🫶   Another day, another tour with googles and lab coats.    These last days, Mikael have had the honor of joining a Dutch delegation on how we advance the European biosolutions sector.    While we still work on our common language (if it was easy, someone else would have done it 😉), we clearly have the same goal:   Europe needs to stand strong and produce what we need ourselves.    To that, fermentation and circular valorization are key - and both Denmark and the Netherlands excel in these areas. It was therefore a pleasure discussing what Europe needs to build a true world-class biosolutions hub:   ✅ Significantly faster approval processes, so time-to-market is on par with our competitors   ✅ Access to the full TRL range of upscaling facilities to derisk innovation   ✅ Growth capital to boost our startups and scaleups to deliver global impact   We can’t do this alone, so we need all the friends we can get.   Thank you so much to the Dutch Embassy to Denmark and the Cellular Agriculture Network arranging this delegation and to be true peers in the booming biosolutions sector. And not least a special thanks to Per Falholt of 21st.BIO, always opening your arms and facilities to guests. You are the rockstars of our sector.

  • The future of Denmark is decided these days – and that’s why it’s critical that biosolutions is still a strategic sector for the next government 👊   We simply have the coolest members.   With only a few minutes consideration, Octarine Bio jumped at the chance to showcase the world-class innovation happening at Østerbro in their labs – almost literally in the backyard of the Danish parliament.   The Danish election is our chance to present the biosolutions sector, and how Denmark leads the world in research and development, but unfortunately enough, not in scaling.   We need to change that. And change that urgently.   To do that, we had invited a true biosolutions champion, the MP Linea Søgaard-Lidell, to visit Octarine’s labs and present how Nick and Nethaji can lead a coloring revolution throughout several industries. And it all happens due to Denmark’s exceptional biosolutions ecosystem.   We need startups not only to be born in Denmark, but grow up as well – and that’s why we need to support startups like Octarine, delivering the future growth and welfare to the Danish economy.     Thank you, Linea, for your time and being a true champion. 🦸♀️

  • It takes a village to deliver global impact - and the Danish village is our superpower 🦸♀️ 2026 will be a critical year. Not only are we awaiting the Danish national strategy and EU Biotech Act no. 2, but it’s crunch time for startups looking for funding. Headwinds are coming, so how do you survive? Mikael was on stage today at the annual DTI Scale Up Symposium together with Petar from BII and Ditte of the Danish Innovation Centre in Korea. Access to growth capital was the key message. We need to boost funding for innovative founders, if we are to deliver a more resilient, competitive Europe. However, you can’t do it alone. It takes a village to build world-class biosolutions, and we are grateful to be supported by ecosystem players like BII and the government, being one of the strategic sectors of Denmark. So if you are looking for funding - reach out. You are not alone. Let us fight for you. And thank you Anne Christine for inviting us on stage.

  • Meet our next Bio Heroes: Henrik and Mette from Halorefine, turning salty soils into circular value 🌱   Soil degradation and salinisation are on a global rise.   Halorefine’s bet? Not all heroes wear capes; some are halophytes that thrive where salt says “no”.   Henrik’s and Mette’s low‑input, solvent‑free cascade biorefinery turns plant biomass into multiple value streams in one go. Clean fibers for fermentation media, biofuel feedstocks, bioactive extracts for feed and health, plus other plant-based ingredients.   Zero waste. Maximum utility.   Building new value chains around regenerative crops, scaling from R&D to real operations, and navigating rules across feed, health and materials? Not exactly a walk on the (salt) beach. But that’s the work that moves the needle.   Biosolutions will be a key tool for restoring soils, while building solid business in the near future. And with around 60% of EU soils assessed as unhealthy, the need is imminent and will only grow.   At DI Biosolutions, we’re cheering for teams like Halorefine. 👏

  • The heroes behind the scene: Meet Linea, one of our true champions 🦸♀️   As a surprise to no no one (hopefully), we are in the middle of an election. Literally, the future of the biosolutions sector is at stake, as the government’s growth team has been put on hold. We are fighting to deliver an ambitious national strategy for biosolutions, but we need all the help we can get.   Therefore, we are grateful to count the Danish MP Linea Søgaard-Lidell as one of our true champions, being in our corner for years.    Just now, Linea has announced biosolutions to be one of the strategic sectors of Denmark and vows to accelerate our development, if the election turns out in her favour. See for yourself here: https://lnkd.in/epwUTcGE   Do give Linea applause for keep fighting for our sector, as we need to deliver a stronger and more resilient society. And yes, you have guessed it, biosolutions is at the core of just that.   Thank you for your continued support. 🫶

  • Susanne is taking biosolutions to the national stage, aiming for a world-class ecosystem – we are proud of supporting pioneers like her 👏   The Danish election is powering on.   Therefore, we in DI Biosolutions are proud to support pioneers like Susanne, the CEO of ALGIECEL, who at the Liberal Party’s business conference at CPH Steel presented her views on how we build a world-class biosolutions sector.   Regardless of a future government's constellation, we need to support innovative entrepreneurs like her.   The potential of our sector is simply too great to ignore – delivering innovations ranging from creating foods out of CO2, biobased asphalt and concrete, biocontrols for greener agriculture, biobased colors for cleaner foods and textiles, removing fossil fuels from our consumer products, and much, much more.   To achieve this, we especially applaud the Liberal Party’s focus on:   ✅ Making it easier being an investor and massively leveraging our pension funds towards growth startups   ✅ Reducing the burdens of doing business, including leveling Danish interpretations of EU regulation with our neighbors   Well done, Susanne!   We are grateful you are one of our pioneers and you took up the mantle to present how we can build a stronger, more resilient Denmark.

  • A massive 150m DKK investment towards a global Food Application & Innovation Center - all thanks to Alfa Laval inspiring leadership 🚀   Yesterday marked a significant day in the Danish ecosystem.   Alfa Laval had invited Sofie and Mikael for a groundbreaking ceremony on their future food innovation center, to be ready to test ambitious biosolutions already by 2027.   This marks the biggest investment of Alfa Laval in Denmark since the 1950s, and it’s all due to Denmark being one of the global biosolutions and innovative food hubs - and that's why Alfa Laval also have invested handsomely in its Innovation House, already being one of the leading ecosystems for startups.   The ambition is clear:   Alfa Laval wants to put sustainable nutrition within everybody’s reach. As UN estimates, by 2050 we will need to produce 70 % more foods to feed a growing population, and we need to do it sustainably.   That’s why Alfa Laval is putting steel in the ground and delivering world-class infrastructure to scale up global biosolutions, and yes, Denmark is on the very forefront.   We are incredibly proud to count Alfa Laval as one of our key members in DI Biosolutions and for providing soil for such an important investment towards a more resilient and sustainable future.   Thank you, Johan Agrell and Henrik Jarl Røssel, for hosting us. This is indeed a milestone for the Danish ecosystem. 👊

  • Access to capital is key. Besides for the bootstrappers, funding gets you up in the morning – and perhaps keeps you awake at night. Let’s change that.   ‘Be the change you want to see.’   That’s why DI Biosolutions is fortunate to host a unique webinar with our partners at Delphinus Venture Capital, who will provide a rare insight into how they assess and evaluate prospective startups, and how the few lucky founders get through the needle’s eye. And the good thing, you are hereby invited! 😉   Our aim is to give you the right tools to boost your funding chances, as well as fresh learnings from someone who made the first hoop.   That is why we are inviting you to join our webinar with Mathias Brink Lorenz and Katrine Riisberg of Delphinus VC and our peers and biosolutions member, Jens Eklöf and Ida Krogh Sjöholm from Ora Biotics.   Together, they will present their takeaways on the early funding journey of Ora Biotics, and how they found each other among hundreds of our startups vying for money.   So now you have an even better excuse to get up early on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.   Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/ejPGHj9R

  • Employees from 15 different countries, covering five continents. EvodiaBio is pioneering biosolutions with talent from all corners of the world 👏   Yesterday was another great day at the office.   For a day, we traded the House of Industry for the house of entrepreneurship, visiting both EvodiaBio and their neighbors, Kaffe Bueno.   Touring EvodiaBio was an eye-opener, on how far ahead Denmark is delivering world-class natural flavours to brewers around the world, with the added benefit of being invited for a beer tasting at 11am (don’t worry, they were NA).   One of the key messages we were left with was how crucial global talent is for the booming Danish biosolutions sector.   The innovation beyond EvodiaBio’s breakthrough is spun-out of university, but upscaling and delivering it to the world market require no less than 15 different nationalities – punching in every morning in Rødovre, being one of the hubs of Danish biosolutions innovation.   Biosolutions is key to making Europe more competitive and resilient, while driving sustainability, but we couldn’t do it without a little help from our international friends.   So next time you meet a parent in your daughter’s vuggestue or the library speaking a different language, give them applause.   They constitute the core of Danish welfare.   Thank you Camilla, Jarne, Iben and Søren for your time – and Simon and Victor for showing us around. 👊
