About Olga Artemyeva
Olga Artemyeva is a film critic, screenwriter and film curator based in NYC. She has a PhD in Art History and teaches Film Studies. Her dissertaion was dedicated to the evolution of horror, and it remained the main point of interest for her throughout the years, together with sci-fi, thrillers and other stirring genres - basically, anything that's bizarre and challenging. She finds it ironic that despite her special relationship with the genre, she never wrote a horror film herself - so far.
Industry Experience
Olga has been writing content in some form for more than fifteen years. She is working as a film festival programmer and consultant since 2015, specializing in horror, debuts and shorts, independent and experimental cinema. In 2024 she was on the narrative features nomination committee for the Indies Awards organized by the Slamdance Group. She also contributes to the film world as a screenwriter, script reader and part of the crew on productions around the globe. She currently contributes to Collider, Screen Anarchy and other publications.
Favorite Media
Olga's all-time favorite film is John Carpenter's The Thing which works simultaneously as the scariest horror, the best (almost) Christmas movie and the most perfect comfort watch.
