Kelcie Mattson is a Senior Features author at Collider. Based in the Midwest, she also contributes Lists, reviews, and television recaps. A lifelong fan of niche sci-fi, epic fantasy, Gothic horror, elaborate action, and witty detective fiction, becoming a pop culture devotee was inevitable once the Disney Renaissance, Turner Classic Movies, BBC period dramas, and her local library piqued her imagination.

Rarely seen without a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, Kelcie explores media history (especially older, foreign, and independent films) as much as possible. In her spare time, she enjoys video games, amateur photography, geeking out over music, and attending fan conventions with her Trekkie family.

Kelcie has written Features for Collider's film, television, and horror verticals since 2022. She has over a decade of academic and professional experience analyzing entertainment through a sharp, detailed critical lens, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking. Between her college background, freelance clients, and employment responsibilities, Kelcie is familiar with all aspects of multimedia creation, from ideation and filming to the post-production process.

Her previous bylines include Bright Wall/Dark Room and interviewing filmmakers for IndieWire’s Women and Hollywood division. In 2022 and 2023, she participated in the promotional street teams for New York Times bestselling author Allison Saft's novels A Far Wilder Magic and A Fragile Enchantment.

Although open to any genre, Kelcie pays special attention to horror, fantasy, sci-fi, film noir, historical romance, superhero epics, and K-Dramas.

When she isn't rewatching Twin Peaks, Doctor Who, Farscape, Breaking Bad, Avatar: The Last Airbender, or The West Wing, it's because she's already started a Studio Ghibli, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars marathon. She holds The Silence of the Lambs, The Secret of NIMH, Laura, The Night of the Hunter, Alien, Jurassic Park, Crimson Peak, The Matrix, In the Mood For Love, and Labyrinth close to her heart. Her ongoing fixations include KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners, Dune, Interview with the Vampire, The Pitt, Paradise, House of the Dragon, The Rings of Power, Murderbot, Shogun, X-Men '97, and all things Critical Role.
