Alan Lepofsky shared thisOn April 3, 1973, while working at Motorola, Marty Cooper made the first public call from a handheld portable cell phone. Thanks to R "Ray" Wang and Constellation Research, Inc. I had the pleasure of meeting him few years ago. Thank you Evan Kirstel for the reminder.

Alan Lepofsky shared thisThe Giving Tree has always been one of my favourite books. The tree gives everything to the boy. Its apples. Its branches. Even its trunk. Not because it wanted something in return. Because it loved him. While reading it to my son last night for the umpteenth time, I realized I’ve always seen this as a story about personal relationships. But could it also be a story about brands and customer experience? The boy keeps coming back. As a kid. A teenager. An adult. An old man. Every time, his needs are different. And every time, the tree meets him where he is. That’s the customer lifecycle. Your customer today won’t be the same in 5 years. Their budget changes. Their priorities shift. Their problems evolve. The brands that win aren’t the ones that simply acquire customers... they’re the ones that grow with them. They are the ones that always having a place for someone to sit. 🌳 Are you building a brand people can keep coming back to?

Alan Lepofsky shared thisHow do you want to be remembered?Alan Lepofsky shared thisThe true test of character is how we treat others. Too often we forget that character is revealed in patterns — in kindness shown, responsibilities honored, and empathy extended. Character is consistent. Fostering this ethos forms the bedrock of a thriving, resilient workplace. The real measure of success? How you make people feel — especially when there’s nothing to gain. Agree? Alan Lepofsky shared thisWhat’s the right balance between ignorance is bliss and having the world’s knowledge at your fingertips? Perhaps the right starting point is not knowing everything, but at least having access to everything you know. The things you’ve done, the actions you’ve taken, the people you’ve connected with. What if all of that information were instantly available to you? Today Sam Kececi, Teddy Schoenfeld and The Sentience Company started their journey along this path. Back in the early days of Lotus, we were pioneers in the Knowledge Management industry of the 1990s, or KM as people called it. One of our projects, which eventually became K-Station, was codenamed Yoda. It is still one of my favorite project codenames! Over the years, there have been many attempts to bring your own knowledge, corporate knowledge, and the world’s knowledge to people’s fingertips. I remember trying Rewind at one point, which I believe was acquired by Meta. Well, today another exciting step in using technology to help us be our best selves began. Take a look at what Sentient Computing is doing. I look forward to trying it out.Alan Lepofsky shared thisI'm excited to share we raised $6.5m to build humanity’s platform for uploaded consciousness. Sentience creates one unique model for every person — a digital twin of your mind — to remember everything, recall what matters, and operate as you. I started this company because I am worried. For the first time, we have intelligence that will fully replace humans across a range of domains within a few years. For those outside of the tech echo chamber, this is a period wrought with confusion and uncertainty about what actually matters anymore. I’ve had numerous conversations with people who aren’t sure if they have any value as a unique human being, or whether their own thinking matters. While Silicon Valley goes full speed ahead towards AGI, many people are left wondering what place they have in this AI future. If I can communicate one thing to everyone out there with these doubts, it would be this: your unique knowledge, memories, and who you are still matter. In fact, these things matter now more than ever. The problem is that the course of AI is heading towards a world where all of us will outsource our thinking to the same one-size-fits-all AI models. This is not a hypothetical future. If 100,000 people ask a question to ChatGPT, every single person gets the same answer. You can see the cost of uniform AI models across writing, social media, and even academic papers. This uniformity is more than annoying – it’s dangerous. There’s a genuine chance that we lose the texture and vibrancy that makes us unique as a species. I founded The Sentience Company to arm real humans against this dystopian outcome. First, your Sentience lets you collect everything that holds context from your life, learning from what you do across every platform – starting on desktop and mobile. Never forget a detail again. Second, your Sentience becomes the best recall engine for everything in your life. Never copy/paste context or search across 50 chrome tabs again. Finally, your Sentience becomes the full simulation of you – an AI model that thinks and acts like you, to scale and share your unique ideas and interact with others. Your Sentience emulates more than your context. It understands your values, emotions, drive, and goals. We’re creating a world where you can leverage your own Sentience model alongside the models of your colleagues and friends to jam on ideas and access their knowledge 24/7. We’re not building Sentience to scale AGI and replace more human thinking. We’re building Sentience to scale you. --- We’re proud that many amazing humans are supporting our mission. Our round was led by Kevin Zhang (@ Bain Capital Ventures), with participation from Dylan, Aditya, Ruchi, Evan, Arian, Gopal, Jonathan, and more (@ South Park Commons), Rex Woodbury (@ Daybreak), Terrence Rohan, Soleio, Annie Case, and many more.

Alan Lepofsky shared thisI didn’t have Apple entering the enterprise email space on my 2026 prediction list. During my decade as an industry analyst covering enterprise productivity suites, I often asked why Apple wasn’t competing in this market. They have great devices, productivity software, communication apps, and a really strong ecosystem. So what was holding them back? What changed now for them to decide to enter? My career started at IBM Lotus, once a dominant player in this space. I saw firsthand how quickly that changed, as we faded and the market became a two-horse race between Microsoft and Google. Others have tried to break in. Amazon took a swing. ZoHo has a robust suite. Zoom expanded into email and collaboration. Newer players like Notion are rethinking what a “suite” even looks like. But Apple remained the most interesting absence. They have an incredibly strong end to end experience. Phones, tablets, OS, apps, and real mindshare with customers. Google has similar strength with phones, tablets, and a full productivity suite. Microsoft clearly owns the software side, but has failed multiple times on hardware. And now, new players like OpenAI and Perplexity are starting to redefine what productivity even means. So what do you think? And note, despite so many valiant attempts to replace it, email still refuses to die!

Alan Lepofsky shared thisDiverse points of view are critical to the success of any project. So are two LLMs better than one? The best outcomes happen when you bring together different experiences, perspectives, and ideas. That’s why transparency and sharing are such critical components of successful teams. But do those teams have to be entirely human? 🤔 In an earlier post, I wrote about whether AI is changing collaboration. Today, let's extend that further... if you are collaborating with LLMs, why stop at just one? 🤖🤖🤖 What about bouncing ideas between multiple models, letting one challenge and refine the other? - Model A generates an initial concept. - Model B provides critical pushback and identifies gaps. - Model C synthesizes the feedback into a final draft. It starts to feel a lot like a real brainstorming session... the kind with raw ideas, challenging arguments, and better outcomes. Of course, nothing replaces human instinct, experience, or passion. But LLMs are no doubt a powerful addition to the employee toolset. They don’t replace collaboration; they extend it. 💡 How are you structuring your AI brainstorming teams? Are you letting models challenge each other yet?

Alan Lepofsky shared thisThere’s no such thing as work-life balance. Work and life are not equal elements on some imaginary scale. They are not equivalent entities you “balance,” “blend,” or “optimize” with whatever the latest cute productivity term happens to be. Life is the only top-level construct. Work is simply one component of life. At times, the most important. But alongside it are thousands of other things that matter: family, friends, health, religion, hobbies, curiosity, creativity, rest, purpose, community. And beyond that, an endless list of priorities, responsibilities, relationships, and experiences that make us who we are. A better term is Space for Life. Space for Life is about the ever-shifting priorities that make us human. The moments that make us colleagues, friends, parents, partners, neighbours. Space for Life can mean something different for every person, in every moment. What matters today might not matter tomorrow. Of all the products, reports, and campaigns I’ve worked on throughout my career, exploring and championing this idea alongside Mike Sutcliff and Richie Etwaru remains one of my most meaningful accomplishments. This beautiful image by Jim MacLeod wonderfully illustrates the concept. Picture your own world, and how the elements within it come and go, expand and contract, and overlap and intertwine as your priorities change over time. When we create Space for Life, something remarkable happens. We become healthier, happier, more creative, more inspired, and better able to bring our best to everything we do. Because when life has space to flourish, everything else flourishes too.

90% of B2B buyers say a vendor's ability to integrate with their existing tech affects whether they even make the shortlist. If you’re a Canadian tech startup competing for enterprise contracts, that stat should make you think. Your product might be world-class. But if you can't prove it works with your buyer's legacy systems, multi-vendor network, or hybrid cloud stack, you may never get the chance to show it. That's the interoperability gap. And it's quietly killing deals. Here’s a practical breakdown of: ✅ Why interoperability is a make-or-break issue across all sectors ✅ The real cost of getting it wrong ✅ How to validate your solution strategically without burning your runway If you're building for enterprise, this one's worth the read. https://ow.ly/Ir6a50YtJm8

Clunky UI kills sales. Clean UX creates and accelerates sales. Because clients don’t buy features. They buy experiences they can trust with their clients. That’s why NDEX Systems Inc. -- the backbone of wealth management technology for 14,000+ advisors and 350+ firms across North America -- partnered with us at INSART. The mission: take the most complete, normalized, and secure portfolio data platform in Canada... and redesign the interface to unlock new adoption and sales opportunities. 🚀 NDEX already sets the industry standard with: → 300+ direct custodial feeds → 8,500+ supported data extraction sites → Real-time reconciliation & exception alerts → Export-ready data via REST API 👉 But the real transformation came from rethinking how advisors and firms experience that power: 1/ Navigation that accelerates workflows 2/ Performance built for massive data sets 3/ Responsive design across every device 4/ Interfaces designed to support end-client conversations and trust Swipe through the screenshots to see how a legacy interface evolved into a modern platform → built not just for data, but for growth. Great UX is when advisors stop thinking about the software and start focusing fully on their clients. Laurent Bensemana and Benjamin Amar, CPA let's keep building together! 👉 Here is the real question: What core UX principles do you believe every fintech platform should follow to accelerate sales? #Fintech #UXDesign #WealthManagement #PortfolioManagement #NDEX #INSART #WealthTech #SalesEnablement

Will traditional websites become obsolete? During my interview with Pardeep Koonar from Agility CMS on the Beyond the CMS podcast, we explored where we're headed. AI search, agentic UX, answer engine optimization - the web page as we know it might not be the primary interaction model much longer. AI understanding user intent and assembling content dynamically instead of people clicking through navigation. Content structured for AI consumption, not just human reading. "We're moving toward systems where AI can query structured content and assemble experiences in real-time. But the foundation - the CMS - becomes more critical, not less. You need clean, structured, API-accessible content." says Pardeep. This is why composable architecture matters now. Systems built for flexibility will adapt to AI-driven experiences. We discussed how Canadian financial services is already testing this - voice-driven banking content, AI chatbots pulling from CMS content models, personalized financial guidance assembled dynamically. Answer engine optimization (AEO) is replacing traditional SEO. We're building content models at Dotfusion with AEO in mind - structured data that works for both traditional web experiences and AI-driven interfaces. Future-proofing the content architecture is critical. 📺 - Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gFCWsgBV 🎙️ Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gBnuydfh #AgilityCMS #AIContent #AgenticUX #AnswerEngineOptimization #HeadlessCMS

One of the most overlooked skills in marketing is knowing what question to ask. Cynthia Keeshan, VP of Corporate Positioning and Keynote Content at Dayforce, has spent her career shaping executive narratives, building brand stories, and helping teams find the right message under the noise. Her approach is deceptively simple. Start by asking: What’s the job you’re supposed to be doing? Now what’s getting in the way? From there, everything opens up. Real problems surface. Messaging finally connects. This episode is an exploration of earning clarity through curiosity. I'm excited to share that Vector Institute has supported the development of the Canadian Marketing Association's groundbreaking new AI resources for marketers. As a marketing leader who has embraced AI's transformative potential, I'm particularly proud of this collaboration. The CMA's newly released "Guide on AI for Marketers" and "Setting the Stage on Artificial Intelligence: A Primer for Marketers" provide essential frameworks for responsible AI adoption in our field. Why This Matters - The timing couldn't be more critical. According to CMA's recent survey: 74% of CMA members use generative AI tools weekly (exceeding the 62% average for Canadian knowledge workers) - Yet 44% are uncertain about their company's AI policies - 56% report inadequate or non-existent AI training At Vector Institute, we've been at the forefront of AI innovation, enabling cutting edge research and fostering community with the world's greatest AI researchers, and helping enterprises and organizations adopt this great research into their solutions and products. This practical experience informed our review of the CMA's resources. I encourage all my marketing colleagues to explore these invaluable resources on their website and at the upcoming CMAai virtual event on April 10, where the CMA will also unveil findings from their "Generative AI Readiness Survey." As Marketers - let's lead the way in responsible AI adoption that enhances creativity, drives efficiency, and delivers exceptional customer experiences. The future of marketing is here—and it's augmented by strategic AI implementation... not "random acts of AI". https://lnkd.in/gYTDvfGs #AIInMarketing #ResponsibleAI #MarketingInnovation #VectorInstitute #CanadianMarketingAssociation #Leadership

When it comes to web accessibility, we can always use a refresher – and Amit Aggarwal is here to help. As the founder and principal consultant at Accessibility Partners Canada, an Ontario-based firm that provides industry-leading remediation services, Amit leads a team of accessibility professionals that supports both government and private sector customers. In his guest post on CMS Critic, Amit reminds us that the consequences of overlooking accessibility go far beyond simple usability issues. He outlines the hidden costs of ignoring it, from legal implications to increased maintenance costs. He also reinforces the common things we miss – and how humans are still the best resource for validation. Along with providing some actionable steps, Amit echoes what I’ve frequently heard at industry conferences: We’re still not approaching accessibility at a foundational level. This was true even at the recent Boye & Company CMS Connect 25. “Treat accessibility as a requirement, not an afterthought, in design and development cycles,” he says. And he couldn’t be more right. Take a few minutes and get a helpful refresher from an expert: https://lnkd.in/emtbv2ZX #accessibility #webaccessibility #wcag

Live from the CanREA Operations Summit in Toronto! 😊 It’s always a great opportunity to reconnect with industry peers, but this year’s summit feels especially energizing. Between the packed exhibitor floor and the sessions on community engagement, there’s a lot of momentum here. I spoke with Victoria Bellissimo, President and CEO of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA), about the theme of this year’s event—community. That means both the communities where renewable projects are built and the community of operators working together to improve how we deliver clean power across Canada. OpenText laid off 1,600 employees while pivoting to AI outcomes. Vidyard's founder says SaaS is dead. Construction companies still need basic workflows. The timing matters. The SAAS NORTH conference revealed a stark divide in how industry leaders view AI's impact. Michael Litt argues we need "Results-as-a-Service" instead of traditional tools. Shannon Bell measures AI by business outcomes, not tech novelty. But Daniel Wigdor calls this approach "brain dead." He believes entrepreneurs should build imaginative applications on AI platforms. The reality? Both perspectives have merit. Some key insights from the debate: • 70% of organizations will shift to small data approaches by 2025 • AI agents are growing at 45.1% CAGR through 2030 • Only 5% of AI pilots extract millions in measurable value • Traditional industries still need basic workflow solutions first The construction, mining, and agriculture sectors aren't ready for AI transformation yet. They need foundational systems before advanced capabilities make sense. Meanwhile, AI-native startups are resetting market expectations with consumption-based pricing. This isn't about SaaS dying. It's about fundamental evolution. Companies must experiment constantly. Customer demands change rapidly. Product-market fit needs constant refinement. The winners will balance innovation with practical implementation. What's your take? Is traditional SaaS truly dead, or just transforming? #SaaS #AI #TechTransformation 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲꞉ https://lnkd.in/gNdy3viR

On the latest episode of the Belmar Bytes podcast, Leslie shares how her organization moved from a "Frankenstein" system to a modern donor platform running on Salesforce. We discuss: 🔹 The Risk of Inaction: Why holding onto 20+ years of data in a legacy system was a massive liability. 🔹 The Transformation: Moving from a "Flintstone car" to a reliable vehicle that allows for real-time decision-making. 🔹 The Results: From reactive data fixes to proactive donor engagement and a dedicated space for planned giving. Salesforce isn't done acquiring. This time, they're coming for e-commerce search. And it signals exactly where Agentforce is headed 👇 Salesforce just signed a deal to acquire Cimulate AI. You probably haven't heard of them. But they've built something retailers desperately need: an intent-aware search engine that actually understands what shoppers want. Here's the problem Cimulate AI solves: • A shopper types "comfortable shoes for travel." • Your search bar returns 6,000 results sorted by popularity. • They scroll. They bounce. They buy from someone else. • You paid to get them there. Your search bar sent them away. • That's not a search problem. That's an intent problem. Cimulate AI fixes that problem. Cimulate reads shopper behaviour, understands context, and delivers results based on what they actually mean, not just what they typed. Now this is becoming a part of Agentforce Commerce. Here's what changes for retailers: 1️⃣ Search stops being a filter. It becomes a conversation. Shoppers describe what they need. The agent responds with relevant options in real time. 2️⃣ Discovery gets personal without being creepy. Intent signals replace intrusive tracking. Better results, less friction. 3️⃣ Conversion happens faster. When shoppers find what they want on the first try, they don't leave. 4️⃣ Merchants stop guessing. You'll finally see the gap between what shoppers searched and what they actually wanted. But here's the bigger picture. Look at what Salesforce has acquired in the last 12 months: ✅ Informatica → Data backbone ✅ Qualified → Conversational marketing ✅ Convergence → Autonomous workflow execution ✅ Cimulate AI → Intent-aware commerce Every acquisition fills a gap in the agentic stack. Sales, service, marketing, and now eCommerce. Salesforce isn't adding AI features to existing products. They're rebuilding the entire customer journey around AI agents. Cimulate is the piece that makes commerce feel like talking to someone who actually knows what you need. That's a shift from "search and filter" to "ask and receive." And it's coming faster than most retailers are ready for. 👇 How does your site handle shoppers who know what they want but can't describe it in keywords? #Salesforce #Agentforce #Commerce #AI #Ecommerce #RetailTech #AgenticAI MuleSoft Community Salesforce Partners Salesforce Admins

Nous Savons is making progress on the SaaS CRM MVP. Though mindful of scope creep as per the "minimum" part in MVP, the "viable" portion requires responsible and serious decisions about how to build the foundational multi-tenant architecture and workflows. Thus far, here are just some of the core functions that have been worked through: • Authentication + identity foundation • Domain-scoped school isolation • Membership-based access control • Admin approval workflows • Profile lifecycle governance • Composite-index-aligned UI sorting • Clean UX without exposing internal infrastructure • Structured profile management (faculty & staff) • Governance (deletions require review) • No public reads Stay tuned!
