Nearly every conversation I had at ILTACON last week circled back to one question: how do we operationalize AI? I spoke to many firms who have spent the last few years experimenting, running pilots, testing point solutions, and trying different models. A really positive outcome of these experiments is that individual lawyers have developed incredibly effective ways of working with AI. But today, firms are building strategies on a deeper level, with a goal to turn those pockets of success into a system. At some point, dozens of AI point solutions floating around a law firm need a framework around how they’re used. The firm needs to know where AI fits into their workflows, what context it has access to, what it can do, and how that process gets repeated consistently across the organization. That’s the work of operationalization. It’s also a big part of what we built Clio Operate to do: give firms a way to encode how work gets done, then bring AI directly into those processes with the context and governance to make it useful at scale. See what that looks like: https://lnkd.in/gJ446xwt

BakerHostetler partnered with Clio and built its own legal intelligence platform. Then chose what powers the research inside it. The firm's new Practice Intelligence Center connects its matter data, legal knowledge, and attorney experience in one governed environment. Matter Research+, the first capability, pairs that proprietary matter intelligence with Vincent by Clio. Research that runs against the firm's own trusted data. Not alongside it. Congratulations to the team at BakerHostetler. To learn more, visit the link in the comments.

Should lawyers use AI to draft M&A agreements? Employment letters? LLC operating agreements? The NYC Bar just published a new framework with answers. Joshua Lenon, Clio's Lawyer in Residence breaks down the paper alongside Senior Manager of Academic Partnerships, Kenton Brice. Where the framework works, where the document ratings deserve reconsideration, and what a workflow view of AI opens up. For the full conversation on where the NYC Bar’s AI framework works, where it can go further, and what bar associations should do next, check out the links in our comments.

Hats off to #ILTACON2026. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Clio booths, joined a session, grabbed a coffee at Matters Cafe, or found a few minutes to connect with our team between meetings. This was a great week full of meaningful conversations, product momentum, and leadership announcements. A special opportunity to showcase what we’re building for the future of legal work. 👏 Until next time!

As Day 3 at ILTACON draws to a close, here's what you might have missed from Clio: Even the best legal AI tools deliver average answers, so the real value now comes from what we add after that first draft. That was the core of Ed Walters' masterclass. Train lawyers to work this way today, and your firm gains the strategic advantage. The market for legal services is changing, and as Ed put it, Clio exists to help the world's greatest law firms stay strategic, fast, and competitive for client work. Outside the sessions, this was the part of Day 3 we're most proud of. A group of us rolled up our sleeves and packed 100 backpacks for foster youth across Nashville, in partnership with TAK | Tennessee Alliance for Kids. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to pack and sort with us. See you tomorrow for the final day at ILTACON.

If you're at ILTACON this week, be sure to check out our new feature inside Vincent: Docket Insights. Litigators can now research primary law, secondary analysis, and live U.S. court records in the same Vincent conversation, bringing a more complete view of the litigation landscape into case strategy. Find the team at Booth 611 to see Docket Insights live or read the full announcement at the link in the comments to learn more.
