The Super Earthed Armed Forces (SEAF) have always felt like useless soldiers that we Helldivers have been desperate to protect with our lives, but now they've been revamped as a planet modifier to really aid you in combat! SEAF Support is a new modifier that can help you complete your missions, as they have a revamped AI and assortment of loadouts and equipment that could help turn a failed mission into a successful triumph for democracy. Below, we'll share details on how the SEAF Support works in Helldivers 2.
As mentioned above, SEAF Support is a planet modifier, so don't confuse it with Support Strategems!
How Does SEAF Support Work in Helldivers 2?
You can find SEAF Infantry on planets with the "Heavy SEAF Presence" tag and Operation Modifier, which (for the launch of the 7.0.0 update) is Rirga Bay. You can find this by highlighting planets or by pressing Z/L2 to look at the Dispatches.
When you launch the mission, open your map, and you can find SEAF troops as green dots. SEAF troops will also spawn from Pellicans at random, so you will never be without these allies when they're present as an Operation Modifier. However, they are cannon fodder, and they're not great at doing objectives and defeating enemies.
SEAF units will follow you and complete objectives with you, as they have been equipped with tools to destroy enemy spawners and wipe out waves thanks to their unique loadouts. However, they're not as skilled as Helldivers, so they're likely going to die... a lot.
Not all SEAF units are the same, and there are special units that might help you. For instance, if you see an SEAF with a red backpack, approach them, and they will use a Stim to heal you. However, you can't take ammo off their corpses, and killing SEAF units will provide a -25 Requisition Slip penalty.
Multiple SEAF units have their own unique rolls that you can find below:
- Squad Leader - This soldier leads the SEAF and gives them tactical orders.
- Rifleman - This standard soldier has the Liberator AR.
- Specialist - This is a Heavy Support SEAF unit that has a Machine Gun and an Anti-Tank Rifle
- Medic - This SEAF unit uses the Defender SMG and can heal you (and SEAF units) with a Stim Pistol and Stims.
Perhaps the best part of these new SEAF units is that they will hug you! If you use the hug emote, the SEAF troop that you're looking at will get all flustered before hugging you right back. While this doesn't provide any gameplay benefits, it's nice to know that you can support your support!
