Ascent 8 Sash

Ascent 8 is by far the hardest challenge present, as you'll need to grab all four Scout Gems, reach the PEAK, then commune with the Scoutmaster's soul and navigate through the final biome: NADIR. Click the guide above for a full walkthrough. You can also find further tips for each Ascent below!

Ascent 1 Tips

You'll want to always have healing items on standby, as fall damage is doubled from the regular difficulty.

Bandages, Med Kits, and Remedy Fungus are going to really help you make each climb, and be careful with your stamina by assessing the climb before you risk it all!

Ascent 2 Tips

Hunger will now grow faster, so you're going to want to make sure you know which natural foods are safe to eat and which ones to avoid. Stock up on plenty of Blue Berrynanas, Yellow Crispberries, Yellow Winterberries, Purple Kingberries, and try to save pre-packaged Luggage food for when you're desperate. Also, make sure you cook food at Campfires!

Ascent 3 Tips

If you find the Balloon Bunch (the three balloons in Luggage) then you should use it to reduce your weight so you can carry heavier items. At this point, you shouldn't feel you have to fill out every inventory and backpack slot, as you should only take the items that you need in the moment, like food and chain guns.

Ascent 4 Tips

You have to grab the Flare at the start of the crash site on the SHORE, as it's not worth the risk of trying to get another Flare from Luggage, since there will be no Flares at the top of the PEAK. Avoid fires and don't cook the Flare, or it will explode!

Ascent 5 Tips

Nights will now cause 2.5 Cold damage every 5 seconds, and nights usually last 60 seconds. You're going to need Heat Packs and Lanterns to counter the cold, and if you're playing together, huddle up so that you can heat up faster. During Cold nights where you don't have Heat Packs and Lanterns, find a safe place and drop your gear so that you can fall unconscious to the Cold and heal in the morning.

Ascent 6 Tips

Since climbing now takes 40% more stamina, you're going to need to utilize equipment. Look for Rope, Chain Launchers, Rope Cannons, Rope Spool, Jetpacks, and Pitons in Luggage. These items will help you make harder climbs. When it comes to Ancient Idols/Lugggage, use Anti-Rope Spool, Anti-Zookas, and Anti-Rope Cannon, so you're not eating through stamina. You can also boost your friends by standing on their heads, and you should be reserving Energy Drinks and Big Lollipops for clutch climbs!

Ascent 7 Tips

Thankfully, the Curse effect is only around 10% of your stamina, and it can be cured with a Cure-All, Pandora's Lunchbox, and cooked Mandrake. While your teammate will receive more Curse if they're revived at the Ancient Idols, it's manageable, but again, just try not to die.

Ascent 8 Tips

On top of the previous modifiers, you must also free the Scoutmaster's soul. We've tagged the guide for it above, and it's vital you know what to do. This will require you to carry all 4 Scout Gems (from all biomes leading to THE CITADEL). Then, you need to reach the PEAK and go behind the mountain to commune with the Scout Statue so you can teleport to the final biome, NADIR. Once you reach the top of NADIR with the Scoutmaster's soul, you'll complete the final Ascent!
