The Eternal Dragons are some of the most magical, mysterious, and powerful characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. Locked away by their respective set of Dragon Balls, most Eternal Dragons are capable of granting wishes, while others can only offer a good fight – one they're more than likely to win thanks to their supercharged Power Levels.

The strongest Eternal Dragons in Dragon Ball have enough power to destroy anyone and anything in the multiverse, and are held back only by the wish-granting ritual of the Dragon Balls themselves. Between Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball DAIMA, Dragon Ball GT, and Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the Z-Fighters are lucky dragons don't turn against them more often.

5 Demon Realm Porunga Flicked Away Giant Gomah Like He Was a Fly

Dragon Ball DAIMA

Demon Realm Porunga is one of the oldest Eternal Dragons, existing long before the Namekians left the Demon Realm and brought the Dragon Balls to Namek, and later Earth. Demon Realm Porunga is linked to the three Demon Realm Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball DAIMA. Like most dragons, Demon Porunga can only grant one wish and is limited by his creator's powers.

Interestingly, Demon Realm Porunga is one of the few Eternal Dragons with an actual battle feat in the series. Near the end of Dragon Ball DAIMA, Giant Gomah attacks Demon Porunga to interrupt the Z-Fighters' wish, only for Porunga to easily block Gomah's attack and then flick him away. This means Demon Realm Porunga is even stronger than Super Saiyan 4 Goku.

4 Black Smoke Shenron is Omega's Shadow

Dragon Ball GT

Dragon Ball GT Black Smoke Shenron

Black Smoke Shenron is the manifestation of all the negative energy flowing out of the Cracked Dragon Balls at the end of Dragon Ball GT. Due to the fact that the Dragon Balls have become broken through overuse, they're no longer able to contain the negativity inside them, corrupting the regular Shenron into Black Smoke Shenron – a cigar-smoking Eternal Dragon overflowing with evil energy.

Black Smoke Shenron and Omega Shenron are functionally two sides of the same coin. Black Smoke Shenron represents merely the negative energy of the Cracked Dragon Balls. He hasn't reached his full level of power yet, and exits more so as a threat of what's to come. Black Smoke Shenron is more of a neutral figure in that regard, before breaking off into seven beings of varying malevolence.

3 Omega Shenron Actually Killed Goku

Dragon Ball GT

Omega Shenron in Dragon Ball GT (5)

Omega Shenron is the final villain in Dragon Ball GT, and one of the most powerful DBGT characters. Omega Shenron can be thought of as Black Smoke Shenron's final form – finally channeling all the power of the Cracked Dragon Balls and absorbing them into one host body (Syn Shenron) to become the ultimae Eternal Dragon. Omega is frighteningly powerful, and comes dangerously close to defeating the Z-Fighters multiple times.

Omega technically does win, as he kills Goku while he's charging his Universal Spirit Bomb. Goku survives through intentionally mysterious circumstances, implied to have been the Dragon Balls giving him one last chance to save the universe. In Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Omega Shenron is regularly depicted as being powerful enough to fight God Tier warriors, and would be able to easily keep up with the strongest fighters from the end of the Dragon Ball Super anime.

2 Dark Shenron is a Demonic Monster With Too Much Power

Super Dragon Ball Heroes

Dark Shenron

Dark Shenron is pure evil, and one of the only Eternal Dragons who was intentionally created with bad intentions in mind. Dark Shenron is linked to the Dark Dragon Balls from Super Dragon Ball Heroes, which can grant massive power-ups stemming from the set's negative energy. Interestingly, many characters empowered by Dark Shenron in Super Dragon Ball Heroes aren't actually evil.

That said, Dark Shenron was created by Xeno Dende for the sole purpose of making the Dark Empire stronger and helping Mechikabura secure his reign as a Dark King. One knock against Dark Shenron is that he cannot actualize wishes against Mechikabura, but he's otherwise one of the most powerful Eternal Dragons in the franchise, with multiverse-destroying potential.

1 Super Shenron Has No Limits

Dragon Ball Super

Super Shenron with the Super Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball Super

Super Shenron is the strongest Eternal Dragon in the Dragon Ball franchise. Created by the Dragon God himself, Zalama, Super Shernon is bound to the Super Dragon Balls – seven massive planet-sized Dragon Balls that can grant any wish with no consequences whatsoever, and no restrictions. With the power of the Super Dragon Balls, Zamasu was able to successfully wish for immortality in one timeline and steal Goku's body in another.

Given the size of the Super Dragon Balls and the fact he was created by Zalama directly, Super Shenron should be an absolute powerhouse. He may be second only to Zeno in terms of raw power and what they're capable of. Since Super Shenron has no restrictions, he'd theoretically be able to erase the multiverse, or even get rid of the Omni-King himself. Super Shenron hasn't been seen since the end of the Tournament of Power, and now that Frieza knows the Super Dragon Balls exist, the Z-Fighters could be in real danger come the Black Frieza Saga.
