Dragon Ball: 5 Strongest Saiyan Gods, Ranked

Dragon Ball's divine hierarchy has changed a lot since the early days of the series. It's hard to believe there was a time when Kami wasn't just the Guardian of Earth, but intended to be the literal God. Dragon Ball Z shook up the cosmology by introducing Kais, but even by the end of the series, Goku and the gang had far surpassed the Gods. Everything changed when Dragon Ball Super introduced Gods of Destruction, Angels, the Omni-King, and God Ki.

God Ki allows any being in the Dragon Ball universe to become a God, so long as they're strong enough to wield such mighty power. Dragon Ball Super has introduced multiple Saiyan Gods over the years, each one more powerful and with more potential the last. Some Saiyan Gods date back to Planet Sadala's ancient history, while others are currently defining themselves as the strongest warriors in the Dragon Ball multiverse.

5 Yamoshi Was the Original Saiyan God

Yamoshi is the original Saiyan God, a warrior whose pure heart allowed him to tap into Super Saiyan God (or regular Super Saiyan, depending on the telling), in order to rebel against an onslaught of Evil Saiyans. How Yamoshi unlocked God Ki remains a mystery, especially since he was weak enough to be overpowered by base Ancient Saiyans. Power-wise, Yamoshi had to have been weaker than just about everybody in Dragon Ball Super.

Next to nothing is known about Yamoshi, other than the fact that he looks like Vegeta, and that the Super Saiyan & Super Saiyan God legends are directly tied to him. In Dragon Ball Legends, Shallot and Giblet are direct descendants of Yamoshi and are quite powerful (although not as strong as the Z-Fighters), so it's possible Yamoshi wasn't as weak as his undignified death would suggest.

4 Goku Black Comes Extremely Close to Becoming the Only God

Goku Black is a version of Zamasu from an alternate Dragon Ball Super timeline where he used the Super Dragon Balls to swap bodies with Goku, before killing him, leaving the timeline, and terrorizing Future Trunks' multiverse. Goku Black successfully kills every Kai, and subsequently Destroyer, in his new multiverse, making him the only God alive alongside the Angels and Zeno. Power-wise, Goku Black quickly outclasses Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks.

In the Dragon Ball Super anime, the Z-Fighters never actually catch up to Goku Black's full potential. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, however, Goku Black is considerably weaker and is easily pushed back by Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. Had Goku busted out Mastered Super Saiyan Blue earlier, he would have been able to kill Goku Black before he and Zamasu could use the Potara Earrings to fuse into Merged Zamasu.

3 Xeno Trunks Defeats One of the Strongest Villains of All Time in Super Dragon Ball Heroes

Xeno Trunks is a version of Future Trunks who goes on to join the Time Patrol following the events of Dragon Ball Z, rather than experiencing Dragon Ball Super. This Trunks grows to be incredibly powerful, essentially acting as the face of Dragon Ball Heroes and playing a key role in several Super Dragon Ball Heroes story arcs. He's also the only version of Future Trunks who ends up unlocking God Ki.

During the Dark King Mechikabura Saga, Xeno Trunks undergoes a version of the God Ritual to unlock Super Saiyan God. Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks is strong enough to fight on even footing with Mechikabura, an extremely strong demon and Dark King. With the help of the Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa, and the Key Sword, Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks is able to successfully seal away Mechikabura, beating the villain in the process.

2 Vegeta is Next in Line to Become Universe 7's God of Destruction

As far as base forms are concerned, Vegeta is actually slightly stronger than Goku right now upon beating him at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Ultra Ego also has far more potential than Goku's already mastered Perfected Ultra Instinct, and considering Ultra Ego & Ultra Instinct are already comparable in power, Vegeta can only surpass Goku from here on out. In terms of Godhood, Vegeta is slowly but surely walking the path of a Destroyer.

During the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Beerus takes Vegeta on as his personal disciple and allows him to observe him while training, in order to study his movements and how best to use Hakai. Beerus also gives Vegeta one of his God of Destruction earrings, as a sign that Vegeta has become a Destroyer in all but title – something that is physically represented by Ultra Ego later in the arc.

1 Goku Has Surpassed Most Gods to Become an Angel Tier Warrior

Vegeta may be stronger than Goku in their base forms, but as far as God Forms go, Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku is still more powerful than Ultra Ego Vegeta (for now, at least). Goku has been training non-stop to master Ultra Instinct ever since he first triggered the transformation during the Tournament of Power. Goku finally mastered PUI while training with Merus in the Moro Saga, before evolving it even further in the Granolah the Survivor Saga.

As of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku is the strongest Saiyan God in the multiverse. He's stronger than every God of Destruction except Beerus, and is operating on levels comparable to the Angels. At full power, PUI Goku can astral project his ki, dodge or counter any attack thrown his way, and unleash powerful techniques that only the strongest fighters in the multiverse can survive.
