A gaming industry insider stated that Diablo 4 could launch on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in September, though physical copies of the game would have a big catch for buyers to bear in mind. A potential Switch 2 port of Diablo 4 would come over three years after the game was first released.
The news came amid a period of change for Diablo 4's Season of Death Awakened. One of the season's major features is the Mythic Uniques 3.0 upgrade system, which has come under fire from players due to the fact that Unique items had their stats rerolled when converted to a Mythic item via the Horadric Cube. Blizzard has since issued updates to remove the random nature of the Mythic Uniques 3.0 system, allowing Diablo 4 seasonal players to keep any affixes on their gear when upgrading a Unique piece of gear directly to Mythic.
Diablo 4 Could Come to Switch 2, But With Some Caveats

Although Diablo 4 is already available on PC and other current-gen systems, Blizzard's hack-and-slash RPG could soon come to Nintendo consoles. According to Dealabs reporter billbil-kun, Diablo 4 could arrive on Switch 2 on either September 15 or 18. However, billbil-kun could not guarantee which of the two dates is the correct one. Additionally, billbil-kun stated that physical copies of Diablo 4 would be shipped as a code-in-a-box rather than as a Game-Key Card or a full Game Card. Should that be the case, Switch 2 copies of Diablo 4 cannot be resold or traded once the code is redeemed. Diablo 4's Switch 2 port may also cost $69.99 at launch, but it is unclear if it will include the Lord of Hatred expansion or if it will be just the base Diablo 4 game.

Neither Blizzard nor Nintendo have officially commented on a potential Switch 2 port of Diablo 4 as of this writing. However, fans may not have to wait much longer for more information, as billbil-kun claimed that an official announcement could take place at Gamescom 2026 later in August. Given that both Microsoft and Nintendo will have a presence at Gamescom 2026, it's possible Diablo 4 will make an appearance. Gamescom 2026 will be held in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to 30, with Gamescom Opening Night Live airing on Tuesday, August 25, at 2:00 PM Eastern.
However, the potential release date for Diablo 4 on Switch 2 also lines up with another gaming industry event set to launch in the coming weeks. The 2026 edition of BlizzCon will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12 and 13, just days before billbil-kun's proposed release date for Diablo 4 on Switch 2. Attendees can expect a slew of announcements from BlizzCon 2026, which may include updates on what Blizzard has planned for World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and other projects possibly in development.
As for Diablo 4, the game's 15th season is currently available on the public test realm (PTR) for players to try out and provide feedback. With Diablo 4 Season 15 introducing Rebirth characters, which will allow Eternal characters to return to Seasonal realms, it remains to be seen what else Blizzard has planned.
