Sasuke Uchiha is quite easily one of the most legendary ninjas to have ever come out of Konoha. Initially, Sasuke set out on his journey to become a ninja in order to avenge the Uchiha clan and kill his own brother Itachi. However, with time, Sasuke grew tremendously and undertook a completely different journey, which saw him defend Konoha from the shadows and carry on the legacy of his brother. Sasuke Uchiha is easily one of the most iconic ninjas to exist and one who carved his name in the history of the ninja world during the 4th Great Ninja War and what followed.

Sasuke's legacy is incredibly difficult to match, but if there is one character who deserves the label of being Konoha's next Sasuke, it is none other than Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto's very own son and Sasuke's disciple. Over the three-year timeskip of the Boruto series, the young Uzumaki has fully embodied the same spirit as Sasuke Uchiha, achieved tremendous strength, and at the same time, become a monster in combat as well. 3.

Boruto Uzumaki Is The Next Sasuke Of Konoha

Boruto Uzumaki Next Sasuke Konoha

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the strongest ninjas that Konoha has ever produced. Having access to the sacred Uchiha Sharingan, Sasuke was always destined for greatness, but he took this ability beyond all its limits by awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan and then the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan as well. Sasuke further evolved his eye into a Rinnegan following his meeting with Hagoromo Otsutsuki, which led to him gaining half of the Sage's chakra.

In the Boruto era, Sasuke established himself as a dominant force strong enough to fight even the Otsutsuki, as seen in Boruto Chapter 9 and Chapter 38 of the manga. However, what truly makes him special is his will to protect Konoha from the shadows. Sasuke Uchiha does not want to bask in glory and earn the acknowledgement of people around him. To him, all that matters is protecting Konoha from the shadows, especially against threats that Naruto Uzumaki cannot see. Sasuke's entire character arc sees him become a stronger and better version of Itachi Uchiha and carry on the legacy of his brother. This is what truly makes Sasuke, Sasuke. In the Boruto series, there is only one character who is strong enough to carry on this burden, and that is the protagonist of the series himself.

“You want to become the Hokage, right? Then I'll support you! What I'm aiming for, Sarada, is to become a ninja like your father!” — Boruto declares his goal of becoming like Sasuke, Boruto Chapter 10

Boruto Two Blue Vortex Boruto Uzumaki Surpass Sasuke

Boruto Uzumaki always wanted to be more like Sasuke than his own father, and to that end, he ended up becoming Sasuke's disciple. In the timeskip of the Boruto series, which followed after Omnipotence struck in Boruto chapter 79 on March 19, 2023, he was trained directly by Sasuke Uchiha himself. As was confirmed in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 5 on December 20, 2023, Sasuke Uchiha drilled all his skills into Boruto during their one year together, and since then, the young Uzumaki has worked on these skills to improve them drastically. Above all, Boruto Uzumaki carries the same mentality as Sasuke.

Boruto: Master, what do you think of my Uchiha Style? I've fully mastered it now, right?

Sasuke: True. This past year, I suppose I've taught you almost all the moves and the methods that I know. You've got talent, and you're a quick learner. All the theoretical stuff is already in your head. Then, I have nothing to teach you.

Why Boruto Is The Perfect Successor For The Other Hokage

Boruto Two Blue Vortex Sasuke Degraded Image

The primary reason why Boruto Uzumaki is the next Sasuke of Konoha is because of his desire to protect Konoha from the shadows. Boruto does not want the glory, and he certainly does not want to become the Hokage of the village. He has no interest in leading Konoha from the front.

All he cares about is the safety of his loved ones, as well as his village and all the innocent people in it. To protect them, Boruto does not want to lead from the front. He wants to protect from the shadows. He wants to guard the village against threats that even the Hokage cannot see, just as Sasuke did.

"Forgive me, Boruto. Stopping Momoshiki's rampage was my responsibility as your teacher, but I couldn't be there for you when you needed me. The village doesn't need to hate anyone else besides me." — Sasuke Uchiha explains what it means to be a hidden Guardian, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #69

In doing so, Boruto Uzumaki is the next inheritor of the Will of Fire of not just Sasuke Uchiha but also Itachi Uchiha, and that is what truly makes him special. The fact that Boruto does this without even having Uchiha blood makes it even more special, and it also further enhances his character in the eyes of the fans. With Sasuke Uchiha officially weakening in the Boruto series, it makes perfect sense for the young Uzumaki to step into the shoes of his mentor and take over from where he left things off. Right now, Boruto Uzumaki is the hope of the entire world in the Boruto series, and with each victory he claims, he makes Sasuke Uchiha proud.

Boruto Uzumaki Is Set To Surpass Sasuke As A Ninja

As things stand, Boruto Uzumaki is quite strong, and with the help of Kashin Koji, he is growing rapidly in terms of power by gaining years' worth of experience in a matter of months and weeks. Boruto is already tremendously powerful right now, but he is nowhere near his peak. With the power of Karma at his disposal, which he fully gained access to in Two Blue Vortex Chapter #28 on November 19, 2025, Boruto is set to reach a much higher level of strength and eventually surpass even Sasuke.

"If we're able to take down Jura, I'll give you my body. You can tell, can't you... that I'm serious?" — Boruto Uzumaki and Momoshiki make a pact, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #28

The next generation of ninja will always go on to surpass the previous generation, and this rule applies to the Boruto series just as much as it applied to the Naruto series. While Sasuke himself was incredibly powerful, Boruto will eventually go on to surpass his level of strength. This is especially the case because Sasuke lost his Six Paths powers in the battle against Isshiki after Momoshiki, who had taken over the body of Boruto Uzumaki, stabbed him in Boruto Chapter 53, which was officially released on December 20, 2020.

With Sasuke no longer being able to fight to the best of his abilities, it is Boruto Uzumaki who has inherited the role of Konoha's next Sasuke. He will defend the village from anyone who seeks to do it harm. We are eagerly waiting to see how the story develops the overarching plotline of Boruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. This is especially the case because the Uchiha is now awaiting his return at the end of the new arc, which began with the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35 on June 18, 2026. As Boruto continues its run on September 17, 2026, Sasuke Uchiha's return gets closer than ever before. We cannot wait to see him team up with his beloved student once again.
