Developer Rebel Wolves confirmed that the console versions of The Blood of Dawnwalker will not be playable at 60 frames per second (FPS) during the game's September 3 launch. Given that The Blood of Dawnwalker is an intense action RPG, a lower FPS limit may be a dealbreaker for some users.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed by Rebel Wolves, a Warsaw-based studio consisting of former CD Projekt Red staffers who previously worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players will assume the role of Coen, a protagonist who is a human by day and a vampire by night. Although one key story point of the upcoming title is a race against time to save Coen's family, Rebel Wolves stated that The Blood of Dawnwalker players should not be too worried about the 30-day time limit.
The Blood of Dawnwalker Capped at 30 to 40 FPS on Consoles
Although several details about The Blood of Dawnwalker have already been revealed ahead of the game's arrival, developer Rebel Wolves also confirmed one detail for console users to bear in mind. The Blood of Dawnwalker will only support two graphics modes: a 30 FPS Quality Mode and a 40 FPS Balanced Mode, on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S consoles at launch. Rebel Wolves demonstrated how Quality Mode will run on PS5 Pro and PS5 via a short gameplay montage, stating that PS5 Pro users will have additional graphical enhancements in both modes. The game will also run at a dynamic resolution of 4K, meaning that upscaling will be used to hit the target frame rate. In response, several Twitter users stated that the lack of 60 FPS support on consoles was a dealbreaker, with some cancelling their pre-orders outright.

As of this writing, gamers who want to play The Blood of Dawnwalker at 60 FPS must turn to the PC version instead. Although playing The Blood of Dawnwalker at max settings initially required an expensive graphics card like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, that will no longer be the case. Rebel Wolves revealed that playing The Blood of Dawnwalker at 1440p and 60 FPS is achievable with components such as the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor paired with a graphics card with at least 8GB of memory, such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 or newer.
GameRant Quiz
Of course, playing The Blood of Dawnwalker on any platform is easier said than done. The ongoing DRAM shortage crisis has caused the prices of essential PC components, including RAM kits, solid-state drives, and graphics cards, to skyrocket by several hundred dollars across the board. The crisis has also affected the console gaming market, as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console lineups have already raised prices. As of this writing, a PS5 Pro will set users back $899, while the Xbox Series X now costs up to $799.
Although initial impressions of The Blood of Dawnwalker have trended positive, the fact remains that the game is locked to 30 or 40 FPS on consoles at launch. It remains to be seen if Rebel Wolves will release a post-launch patch for consoles that could introduce a comparable option to that available on PC.
