About Krista McCay

Krista McCay is a writer specializing in video game guides and walkthroughs. She first entered the industry in 2022 while studying English at UC Santa Barbara and working part-time as an editor. It was love at first write, and she hasn’t looked back since. 

Krista first developed her love for games as a child while playing franchises like Pokémon, Halo, and Skyrim. When she isn’t writing and working on games for work, you’ll find her playing a roguelike, crafting, or baking brownies.

Favorite Console

Krista has always played on a variety of consoles, but the Nintendo 3DS will always hold a special place in her heart. She still plays on the same console that she started games like Pokémon X and Majora's Mask on. It reminds her of the many long road trips she went on as a child and the thrill of staying up late on a school night to watch Flipnotes.

Favorite Games

Krista would list her top five games as Overwatch, Hades 2, Minecraft, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. 

While she holds a deep love for most of her childhood classics, she also has a soft spot for Overwatch and any roguelike. As soon as Krista completes one roguelike, she picks up a new one to try out while playing through other games.

Industry Focus

Krista entered the industry writing opinion pieces and listicles, but has changed her focus over the past two years to guides and walkthroughs, particularly for roguelikes. She enjoys playing through roguelike games, completing their most difficult challenges, and sharing her findings with other players. It is her way of giving back to the community while still doing what she loves most.
