Sci-fi adventure game Echo Generation 2 has been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass, with a May release date officially announced. The upcoming indie sequel is one of many titles confirmed to be hitting Xbox Game Pass within the next month.

Microsoft recently announced that Xbox Game Pass' monthly cost would officially be lowered, though the change does include the exclusion of new Call of Duty games from its extensive roster of day-one releases in the future. The price cut specifically impacts the Game Pass Ultimate tier, dropping the cost by nearly $10. The new monthly cost reverts some of the recent pricing changes that have impacted the subscription service, aligning with new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's attempt to fully rebrand the company's consoles and services. The move has been received positively by players who have moved away from subscribing to Game Pass, though the changes to its suite of day one game releases have been more divisive among fans.

Echo Generation 2 Confirmed for May 27 Release on Xbox Game Pass

Indie voxel adventure game Echo Generation 2 is confirmed to be releasing on May 27, with players able to play the new title day one via Xbox Game Pass. The release date for the voxel-based deckbuilding RPG was revealed during Microsoft's ID@Xbox showcase for April 2026, along with a brand-new trailer that details the game's variety of environments and playable characters. Along with Xbox Series X/S, Echo Generation 2 is also planned for release on Steam, where fans can wishlist the game now.

While the original Echo Generation gave off distinct Stranger Things vibes, the game's sequel looks to be expanding its unique formula even further, taking its retro futuristic narrative to unknown corners of reality. In Echo Generation 2, players will primarily take on the role of Jack, a former spec-ops agent who finds himself stranded in an alternate dimension. While attempting to aid Jack in his journey home, players will also experience chapters from the perspective of other characters, including the bounty hunting duo Noliva and Strix and mother named Annata Z, who is on a search for her missing child. A demo of Echo Generation 2 that's currently available places players in the role of another of the game's main characters, a young psychic known as Sister M.

Combat in Echo Generation 2 is centered around a dynamic deck-building gameplay system that features a range of over 150 cards. Players will have access to a wide range of elements, abilities, and even summons, all used during turn-based combat to allow Jack and company to take down the game's variety of foes. The game's release date trailer shows off a handful of these moves, which include lightning strikes, telekinesis, and weapon-based combat, depending on the characters being used.

The game leans heavily into the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the 80s and 90s, helping it to stand out within the crowded genre. Players can look forward to learning more about this beautiful and dangerous world when Echo Generation 2 lands on May 27.
