As the Witch Hat Atelier anime adaptation marches on, Coco's entry into the world of magic becomes more fraught with danger, though the young girl continues to find herself enamored with all things sorcery-related. Episode 7 of Witch Hat Atelier saw Qifrey's apprentices helping to save a man and a young boy from being swept away by a flooded river, while also diving more deeply into Agott's mental state, hinting at why the stoic apprentice is always so desperate to prove herself, and why she keeps others at a distance. Coco's resourcefulness saved the day yet again, and all seemed to be well as the credits crept closer. However, the magic spell that was used was far from harmless, and Coco and Agott suddenly found themselves face-to-face with dedicated members of the Knights Moralis.

Fans have been on the edge of their seats for the past few days, as Witch Hat Atelier Episode 7 ended with Coco's memories at dire risk of being erased. A flare in the shape of a phoenix released by Agott may prove to be the duo's saving grace, as Qifrey and Olruggio may be the only ones capable of halting the terrifying process. Accused of being in league with the Brimmed Caps, Coco's memories and passion for magic are only moments away from being taken away from her, but thankfully, fans of the beloved adaptation won't need to wait much longer to see how things play out.

Episode 7 of Witch Hat Atelier highlighted the potential common ground to be found between Coco and Agott, while also driving the plot forward with the introduction of Easthies and his squadron of the Knights Moralis. Ruthless and dedicated to his job of enforcing the law, Easthies has shown no mercy to Coco thus far, despite her being a young and inexperienced child. The laws of the magical world must be upheld, in his view, and if Qifrey and Olruggio don't return soon, the damage done could be irreversible. Witch Hat Atelier Episode 8, "The Misgivings of the Knights Moralis," will be available to stream both in Japanese with English subtitles and in English via Crunchyroll on May 18, 2026, at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.

What lies in the aftermath of the intense happenings on the Staircase River remains to be seen, though Witch Hat Atelier is certainly taking a dark turn. While moments of heartache and fright have been interspersed with more lighthearted moments in Qifrey's atelier, this may not be the case much longer, as the motive of the Brimmed Caps and Coco's ties to forbidden magic will only lead to more strife for the young girl. The rogue organization has more witches in its employ than meets the eye, and Coco will need to learn who to trust as she continues her new life by Qifrey's side.
