In order to understand what each Game Profile does, we have to understand what each of the settings mean:
- Command Stack: Set the maximum number of orders you can stack per team member.
- Play Tactic: Allows you to easily switch between pause and real-time, while maintaining tactical view and control.
- Autonomous Party: Allows you to enable or disable this mode, which makes uncontrolled team members autonomous in combat. They choose a target and skills to attack them without orders from the player.
- Zoom Levels: Allows you to set the maximum zoom distance of the camera. The zoom can be restricted, restricted in real time, and available during tactical pauses, or always available.
- Cursor Controls: Defines the cursor control mode in tactical control, which can be available at any time to move the camera around the battlefield, or available only when a skill requires targeting a position on the ground.
- Auto Attack: The controlled character automatically performs basic attacks after the first strike lands on a target, continuing until the target is defeated.
- Aim Pause: Defines whether the game activates pause or not when a skill requires validating a target or position.
The ability to change Game Profiles unlocks after you start the “Doneigad’s Initiation” main mission by talking to Mev and getting your two main tasks: A New Evil and A Dying Forest.
Which Game Profile Should You Choose in GreedFall 2: The Dying World?
The Tactical Game Profile is recommended for most players, as it gives them the most options and freedom of movement, without restricting them in any way. Players can issue up to five commands to a character at a time, allowing them to chain multiple combat actions one after the other and coordinate the entire party seamlessly.
The Focused Game Profile sacrifices zoom and player freedom in exchange for making the game feel more like a single-player experience. The restricted zoom levels feel like a hindrance in large-scale fights where keeping track of multiple combatants is necessary for proper positioning, and the inability to issue more than one commands at a time means you have to constantly switch between party members to get complete control of the fight. The Focused Game Profile is meant for lower difficulty settings where taking away player autonomy to make combat more streamlined is not a sacrifice.
The Hybrid Game Profile is a mix of the two, giving players a middle-of-the-road approach. However, since it disables Play Tactic, which is the ability to move in real time during Tactical Pauses, it feels almost as restrictive as the Focused Profile, but without the benefit of making the game feel single-player. Players looking for a third option would be better off creating their own Custom Profile by mixing and matching the settings that suit them best.
