The Everspring Umbrella is a ranged martial art that belongs to the Bamboocut – Dust arsenal, introduced in Where Winds Meet’s Hexi update. To unlock the Everspring Umbrella, you have to infiltrate the Velvet Shade Sect’s stronghold in Jadewood Court (Kaifeng) and steal the technique directly from the sect master using the Skill Theft mechanic.
Once you reach the master and complete the Skill Theft sequence, the Everspring Umbrella becomes permanently unlocked, giving you access to powerful ranged AoE techniques in Where Winds Meet.
Cries In The Distance Quest In Where Winds Meet
Here's how to unravel the Tai Chi mysteries and defeat the Thick-Skinned Albino Black Bear in Where Winds Meet's Cries in the Distance side quest.
How to Unlock Everspring Umbrella in Where Winds Meet
Before you can steal the Everspring Umbrella technique, make sure your character has reached at least Level 8 and unlocked the Skill Theft ability. You can get this by speaking to Qiu Yuehai at the Peace Bell Tower and completing the exploration quest called “Skill Theft: Unearned Lesson.”
Once you finish this questline, the Skill Theft system becomes available. This mechanic lets you observe and copy martial arts techniques from masters around the world.
Reach the Everspring Umbrella Location
The Everspring Umbrella technique belongs to the Velvet Shade Sect, and the master who holds the skill is located inside the palace complex at Jadewood Court in Kaifeng. The easiest way to begin the infiltration is by traveling to the Boundary Stone in South Imperial Garden and walking towards the palace entrance.
As soon as you approach the temple grounds, the area shifts into a stealth section. Guards from the Velvet Shade Sect patrol the area, and if they find you, you’ll be sent back to the entrance unless you have already activated a save point inside.
Instead of walking straight through the main entrance, the safest route is to climb the scaffolding along the outer wall of the temple. From the scaffolding, you can reach a ladder that leads to a pavilion area near the roof. This way, you can avoid multiple guards on the lower level.
Sneak Through the Temple
Once you reach the rooftop pavilion, you’ll run into the first guards in the area. Wait for their patrol patterns and quietly knock out the disciple when his back is turned.
After clearing this section, move around the back side of the building where more scaffolding leads upward. Climb this structure to reach the highest section of the roof. Here, a small opening will let you enter the interior of the palace.
Inside the building, you will find a save point, which becomes extremely useful if you get spotted later.
From here, go deeper into the palace carefully. Walk across wooden beams and drop onto lower platforms while avoiding the guards patrolling the corridors below. Wait for guards to look away before moving through the narrow hallways and staircases.
Eventually, you will reach a storage room area with shelves and wooden planks suspended above the floor. Moving across these beams places you directly above the location of the Velvet Shade master.
Steal the Everspring Umbrella Technique
Once you reach the correct position above the master, interact with the Skill Theft prompt. This triggers a quick-time event (QTE) where you have to copy the master’s movements.
Completing the sequence successfully allows your character to learn the technique immediately. After the QTE ends, the Everspring Umbrella martial art is permanently unlocked.
