How to Unlock Liangzhou in Where Winds Meet
Path in Paint Quest
To unlock the Liangzhou area, players must have completed the Hexi main story questline involving an NPC named Burlap Sack that took them across the Hexi region. The final objective asks players to "Head to Liangzhou to open a new path," and this leads them to the Whitecrown Fortress.
If players have defeated the boss, Guo Xin, at this location, they can proceed to speak to the city guard soldier near the back gates. However, if not, you will need to complete the Whitecrown City Lost Chapter quest, which requires you to collect five military flags scattered across the Hexi region.
The final flag can be obtained by entering a memory while interacting with a military flag back at the Whitecrown Fortress, before proceeding to defeat Guo Xin. After the boss is defeated, speak to the city guard soldier not far away from the fortress's back gates, where you can obtain the Anxi Army Command Staff and start following the trail using the quest marker through the cavern amidst a sandstorm.
There is a musician who will follow you as they recount a tale as you make your way through the sandstorm, and you can interact with various NPCs found along the path. This path finally leads you out of the desert and plunges you into the frozen landscape of Liangzhou, concluding the Path in Paint quest and unlocking the Liangzhou area.
There are a few extra things to do post quest, with the first being to unlock the Liangzhou map by locating the Wayfarer, or rather its eagle companion, at the docks in Liangzhou Town. After speaking to the Wanderer's Eagle, the map will be fully available, and from here, you can proceed to unlock all the Boundary Stones and continue exploring this area or start the next main story quest, Passing Mirage.
