May 4, otherwise known as Star Wars Day, has always been a moment for the franchise to flex, but 2026 is unique in the sense that, so far, what fans know isn’t exactly on track with what should be, especially for what is potentially the most loaded celebrations in recent memory. Between confirmed upcoming releases, long-simmering rumors, and the growing sense that Lucasfilm Games has finally figured out its production pipeline, there are plenty of genuine reasons to tune in this year, even if it doesn’t seem like it yet for the gaming audience. Whether fans are craving action RPGs, turn-based tactics, or something set in the beloved Old Republic era, the expansive galaxy of Star Wars gaming has rarely felt this full of as-yet-unannounced possibilities.
Of course, not everything will likely be a slam dunk, given that some of the biggest questions in Star Wars gaming remain conspicuously unanswered heading into the holiday. Excitement is warranted, but so is the kind of cautious optimism that comes with being a fan who has been around long enough to remember any of the many canceled Star Wars projects and delayed reveals. What seems certain, though, is that Lucasfilm and EA will want to use the occasion to say something, so the question is just how much they're ready to show.
Every Star Wars Game Confirmed To Be In Development in 2025
Star Wars has historically been ubiquitous in gaming, and that's not changing anytime soon, as several high-profile game adaptations are in the works.
Star Wars Jedi 3: The One Everyone Is Waiting For
Beginning with a bang, there is no single announcement that would generate more buzz on May 4 than an official reveal of Star Wars Jedi 3, and the stars may finally be aligned for that to happen. The idea of a reveal around Star Wars Day is widespread and decently well-founded, as the game has long been rumored to release this year (depending on GTA 6's launch).
In terms of likelihood, what makes the timing feel plausible is the broader momentum behind the project. EA Entertainment president Laura Miele confirmed in mid-2025 that the third Jedi game was part of EA's active Disney and Marvel slate, and further reported Jedi 3 leaks described a game featuring a darker tone, new Force powers, and a potential double blaster stance. The departure of series director Stig Asmussen after Jedi: Survivor adds uncertainty, but the foundational tech and world-building are already in place. Cameron Monaghan is also expected to reprise his role as Cal Kestis, so if Respawn is in fact ready to talk, Star Wars Day is the ideal stage.
No Likely News About Fate of the Old Republic or Eclipse
Though any news about Star Wars Eclipse or Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic falls into the extremely unlikely category, the latter is worthy of a mention because when Arcanaut Studios unveiled the title at The Game Awards in December 2025, it was one of the biggest surprises in Star Wars gaming history. Directed by Casey Hudson—who helmed the original Knights of the Old Republic as well as the Mass Effect trilogy—the game is a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG described as a spiritual successor to KOTOR, set at the end of the Old Republic era with entirely new characters and an all-new story. The teaser trailer was atmospheric rather than informational, depicting a Force user landing on a terrestrial planet alongside a droid companion and venturing into a crashed capital ship, raising more questions than it answered.

Unfortunately, any news has been essentially nonexistent, which is not entirely surprising given that the studio only formally came together in July 2025. Hudson has confirmed the game will release before 2030, which is certainly a ways away, but on the technical upside, Arcanaut is building the game on Unreal Engine 5.5 with Nanite and Lumen support. Regardless, it’s fair to say that fans hoping for a May 4 update should temper expectations.
The Much-Troubled Knights of the Old Republic Remake
While Fate of the Old Republic offers a fresh vision of the Old Republic era, the original KOTOR remake continues to haunt the galaxy like a ghost no one can put to rest. Originally announced in September 2021 by Aspyr Media, the project has been pulled in many directions by many developers since, and the most recent bit that Saber Interactive (the latest studio to take up the project) Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits has offered was a sparse confirmation that the remake was still in development this past March. A May 4 update feels unlikely, but given the renewed interest in the Old Republic era sparked by Fate of the Old Republic, there is at least a reasonable case for Disney to use the occasion to show some signs of life.
What Gamers Know for Sure—and What They Can Expect
Setting aside the speculation, there is already a confirmed and exciting 2026 Star Wars release for fans to look forward to: Star Wars Zero Company. Developed by Bit Reactor—a studio founded by former Firaxis developers behind the XCOM reboot series—in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and published by EA, Zero Company is a turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars. Players lead a fully customizable character named Hawks and a squad of misfits and mercenaries on covert operations against a threat no conventional army can address, with deep strategic systems, base management, and meaningful narrative choices that carry consequences across the campaign. No exact release date has been confirmed yet, but the 2026 window stands, and May 4 would be a fitting moment for EA to nail down something more specific.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer may also see some news this May 4, especially considering the title's release date was just reportedly leaked.
Beyond Zero Company, fans who want to celebrate the holiday with a controller in hand are spoiled for existing options. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor remains one of the finest action games of the current console generation, and there are plenty of great Star Wars RPGs worth playing in the long wait ahead of FOTOR. As has become tradition, May the 4th also typically brings discounts across storefronts, and though none have been announced just yet, fans can likely expect sales on EA's Star Wars library through the EA App, as well as deals on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace, making it an ideal weekend to fill gaps in the collection or revisit a favorite from a galaxy far, far away.
The Force Is Subtle But Strong This May 4
Star Wars Day 2026 is arriving quietly, at least so far, but there’s some genuine momentum behind it, whether or not every anticipated announcement materializes on cue. Most definitely, a Jedi 3 reveal would be a watershed moment for the franchise and would give EA and Respawn a runway into what could be a landmark year for Star Wars gaming. But whatever Star Wars Day brings, the slate of upcoming titles—from Zero Company to Fate of the Old Republic to the ever-mysterious KOTOR remake—makes it clear that the galaxy far, far away is far from running out of stories to tell in this medium.
