AMC's Interview With The Vampire will return for season 3, but with a surprising new direction as the gothic horror series is rebranded as The Vampire Lestat. Based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series, seasons 1 and 2 focused on the events of the original 1976 novel, as Jacob Anderson's Louis de Pointe du Lac recounted his unlife to veteran reporter Daniel Malloy, played by Eric Bogosian.
As Interview With The Vampire dived deeper into Louis's past, audiences witnessed his twisted romances with his maker, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), and the Vampire Armand (Assad Zaman), his doomed bond with Claudia (Bailey Bass and Delainey Hayles), and the many conflicting recollections that left us guessing what was true or false. In the end, with the help of Daniel, season 2 concluded with Louis piecing his memories back together, and the reporter sharing his tale to the world.
When Does The Vampire Lestat Come Out?
Alongside a first look at the upcoming season's opening titles, AMC has confirmed that The Vampire Lestat will premiere on June 7 across both the channel and the AMC+ streaming service. The sequence throws viewers headfirst into the rock and roll lifestyle of Lestat, as he follows in Louis' footsteps and makes himself known to the world.
Throughout the sequence, viewers are treated to various glimpses of Lestat's life, from his transformation in the 1800s to his blossoming musical career in the present day. The sequence also teases the returns of Louis, Daniel, Armand, and Claudia, as well as a new look at his mother, Gabrielle, played by newcomer Jennifer Ehle. The titles are set to "All Fall Down", the second in-universe track performed by Lestat to be released.
AMC previously released a clip from the upcoming season that set the stage for Lestat and Louis' relationship after their season 2 reunion. Having rekindled their bond, Lestat is attempting to settle into a new home in Montreal, Canada, while facetiming Louis. Their pleasant call is soon interrupted by an article on Daniel's book, as Lestat is left horrified by his exposure to the world and how humans are responding to his life story, pushing him to step out of the shadows and tell his version of events.
Where To Watch The Vampire Lestat and Interview With The Vampire
The Vampire Lestat will consist of seven episodes, similar to Interview With The Vampire season 1, with new episodes airing every Sunday following the June premiere. The season will largely pull from the events of The Vampire Lestat novel, though it is expected to reimagine several events to follow up on the major changes of past seasons. However, it is already confirmed that the season is building up to a future adaptation of Queen of the Damned, with Sheila Atim confirmed to be taking on the role of vampiric matriarch Akasha in the upcoming season, ahead of the character becoming a key player within the world.
As well as being available on AMC+, both seasons of Interview With The Vampire are available on Netflix. Alongside the adaptation of Rice's genre-redefining first novel, viewers can also enjoy other entries from the author's Immortal Universe franchise, as Mayfair Witches seasons 1 and 2, as well as Talamasca: The Secret Order can also be found on AMC+. Mayfair Witches focuses on a bloodline of witches within the same universe, while Talamasca: The Secret Order follows the human organization that has featured in both series, as they monitor the supernatural forces from the shadows. Talamasca: The Secret Order directly connects to Interview With The Vampire, as the series is set after season 2 and explores Daniel's whereabouts after his reunion and second interview with Louis, connecting the threads of the various corners of the franchise.
