In Subnautica 2, Rubber can be made by processing Lucifer Rotsac, a special type of plant that is readily available in the early game biome if players know where to look. Rubber is used in the fabrication of multiple key materials in Subnautica 2, making it crucial for players to learn exactly how to find Lucifer Rotsac and how to process it into Rubber. Here are the details.

In Subnautica 2, Lucifer Rotsac can be found in the early game shallow waters biome surrounding the Lifepod. It takes the form of a glowing red orb that’s shaped like a bulb or an egg growing from a large colorful flower called the Cradle Shootroot.
The flower has thin, sea-green leaves tipped with orange and a large starfish-like bud in the middle, which is the Lucifer Rotsac. Both the Cradle Shootroot and the Lucifer Rotsac glow in the dark, making them easy to spot from a distance at night. Simply look for a bright red glow on the shallow ocean floor to spot them.
Harvesting the Lucifer Rotsac is done by hand; you simply swim up to the flower and press the interact hotkey to place the item in your inventory. Each bulb contains one Lucifer Rotsac.
The Cradle Shootroot (the base flower) can itself be harvested by cutting it with the Survival Multitool. It yields Fibrous Pulp, which can be converted into Fiber or cooked into an Oily Salad.
You will only be able to eat food in Subnautica 2 after you’ve acquired the Digestion Adaptation from the Angel Root near the Lifepod.

After you’ve obtained some Lucifer Rotsac bulbs, you’ll be able to process them into Rubber at any Fabricator under the Basic Materials section in the Resources tab. Rubber can be used to craft Basic Fins, Standard Air Tank, and Air Bladder.
It’s worth remembering that the Fabricator only works with power. While this isn’t a concern for the Lifepod, it might become a problem when you set up your base.
The only use for the Lucifer Rotsac (other than rubber) that I’ve discovered so far is to make Grease (1 Lucifer Rotsac = 1 Grease), which is used to craft some machinery later in the game. In the early game, I recommend processing every single Lucifer Rotsac you pick up into Rubber to save on inventory space. You can always harvest more later since these things regrow quite easily.
