Xbox recently revealed its new Disc to Digital program, allowing players who insert a physical disc to receive a digital license and access to perks like Xbox Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming. Sony has not officially confirmed any reversal of its previously announced digital-only plans.
Sony's decision to go digital-only has even reportedly been met with pushback from other developers within the industry. Another rumor claims that an unconfirmed third-party developer has threatened to skip PlayStation consoles for one of its biggest releases in response to its decision to phase out physical media.
