Solo Leveling Season 2 saw Sung Jinwoo become incredibly powerful after significantly expanding upon his Army of the Dead, which he started building officially from Solo Leveling Episode 12 onwards. Since then, he has come a long way and acquired many powerful shadows, such as Tusk, Tank, Kaisel, and most recently, Beru in the final episode of Solo Leveling Season 2.

The next season of Solo Leveling will officially see to it that Jinwoo expands his arsenal of shadows even further. At the same time, it will also strengthen him by giving him the powers of an official King by introducing Ashborn, and fully elaborating upon his abilities before passing them on to Sung Jinwoo. Solo Leveling is now set to officially make the protagonist of the series the King of the Dead.

Sung Jinwoo's Next Evolution Will Officially Come In The Double Dungeon Arc of the Next Solo Leveling Season

The first two seasons of Solo Leveling, which aired on Crunchyroll on January 6, 2024, and January 4, 2025, respectively, were absolutely massive. Still, they were only set as a build-up for the bigger arcs to come later down the line. Solo Leveling Season 3 is where things will start getting more exciting, and the intensity will pick up a lot. As such, the biggest power reveals for the main characters, especially Sung Jinwoo, will also happen in this part of the series, and the fans are eagerly waiting to see that.

Solo Leveling Season 3 features a couple of short arcs, such as the Recruitment Arc, and the Ahjin Guild Arc, but the main focus will be on the Double Dungeon Arc, which is where Jinwoo will finally return to Cartenon Temple after surpassing Level 100. Jinwoo lost everything there at the very beginning of Solo Leveling, when a significant chunk of his party was absolutely eradicated, and he too suffered tremendously in the midst of what unfolded. That said, he received some very incredible abilities, such as the power of the System. Now, he will finally return there, and it is there that Jinwoo will officially get the title of the King of the Dead.

“I am the record of your bitter struggle. I am the evidence of your resistance. I am the reward of your pain. I am death, I am eternal rest, and I am also terror. I am you.” — Ashborn, Solo Leveling, Double Dungeon Arc

Illustrated in the manhwa in 2021, Solo Leveling’s Double Dungeon arc showcases Kandiaru’s elaborate plan to bring Jinwoo back to the Cartenon Temple and to use his body as a vessel to resurrect the Shadow Monarch, Ashborn. The protagonist of the series, Jinwoo was carefully chosen to become his next vessel. To finally take Jinwoo's body, Kandiaru engages in a battle with Jinwoo. Despite struggling against the protagonist of the series, he almost succeeds in his goal of turning the latter into a vessel, only for Ashborn to backstab him.

For those who do not know, Ashborn is the original Shadow Monarch that existed in the world of Solo Leveling long before Jinwoo. The entire plot of Solo Leveling is orchestrated to bring back the Shadow Monarch by making Jinwoo his next vessel. The system was specifically designed to strengthen Jinwoo to the point where he could become the next vessel, which was to show the massive lore reveals the next season will bring with it.

Solo Leveling Season 3 will feature Sung Jinwoo's biggest evolution, and this is because Ashborn will officially betray Kandiaru, despite the two having worked together. After having witnessed Jinwoo's struggles, Asborn recognizes potential within Sung Jinwoo and, most of all, the ability to fight death itself by surviving many near-death scenarios repeatedly. Jinwoo has what it takes to be the next Shadow Monarch, and as such, instead of taking over his body and using it as a vessel, the original Shadow Monarch, Ashborn simply grants immense powers to him, crowning him as the next King of the Dead. Solo Leveling's next season will thus officially see the birth of a new King and the rise of the strongest Monarch, alongside the final antagonist.

Naturally, Sung Jinwoo's abilities continue to grow from here onwards. Not only does he far surpass the S-Rank Hunters in the world of Solo Leveling beyond this point, but his strength reaches a level where even the National-level Hunters are no match for him. Jinwoo's overall power can only be matched by a select few Monarchs from this point onwards, and that elevates the overall intensity of the series even further.

All Powers And Abilities Of Sung Jinwoo Following His King of the Dead Power Boost

Solo Leveling Number 1 Spot Crunchyroll

Sung Jimwoo’s King of the Dead power-up means that he will become the True Shadow Monarch in Solo Leveling Season 3. To truly grant him immense power, Ashborn ends up giving Sung Jinwoo the Black Heart, which is his biggest power in the whole series. This black heart immediately grants him +100,000 in mana and essentially allows him to raise as many shadows as he possibly wants, regenerate them as much as he wants, and reproduce them as many times as he wants. Jinwoo's control over the concept of death itself and his ability to raise even stronger shadows grow tremendously as well.

Naturally, as the story continues, Sung Jinwoo will continue to gain even stronger shadows, some of which are even greater than Beru and Igris in terms of strength. It must be noted that his own fighting attributes also continue to grow. Jinwoo's physicality reaches new levels, so does his speed as well as his weapon-wielding skills. All this will be put on display in brilliant fashion in the upcoming Solo Leveling Season 3, which is most certainly going to be adapted beautifully, as confirmed by Atsushi Kaneko, who stated that the goal is to make Solo Leveling's next release compete with the likes of One Piece.

"As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto. But if season three happens, that's when I want to truly break that boundary." - Atsushi Kaneko, Solo Leveling Director at A-1 Pictures
