Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is aiming for an anime release in 2027, and fans of this reincarnation Manhwa are eager to see its main protagonists, Kim Dok-ja, and Yoo Joonghyuk, in their animated versions. With its long run coming to an end in Korea back in 2020, its English version is still ongoing and climbing the rankings nonstop.

What's more, considering the spike in popularity that Manhwa series enjoyed after the success of Solo Leveling, one cannot avoid comparing the two. Will Sung Jinwoo finally have a worthy rival capable of standing toe to toe in terms of popularity, even on the small screen? Let's figure it out.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Destined To Overthrow Solo Leveling

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is currently standing at the top ranking in action Manhwa in various sites, including Naver and Webtoon. The story of the reincarnator Kim Dok-ja being dropped in his favorite novel, "Three Ways To Survive A Ruined World," is as fascinating as it is endearing due to its quirky characters and intense action, a combination that has made it earn millions of fans.

The anime adaptation of this manhwa was officially announced during the Anime Expo back in July 2024, and was showcased with key art and a brief teaser. It is a joint production between Aniplex and Crunchyroll, so the quality of the show is going to be tremendous with those heavyweights backing it up.

The animation studio, for the moment, is not confirmed, though fans speculate that CloverWorks or ufotable could take up the torch and lead the project.

After 6 Years, Manhwa Rivaling Solo Leveling Is Officially Getting An Anime

But the question is: Why is ORV so popular among fans of reincarnation Manhwa? One of the reasons is that it has extensive world-building, meta-storytelling, and character development like no other series. This is also its major weakness since animating such a massive work of literature could end up becoming a monumental task.

But it also has a ton of potential that could possibly place it among the top anime of 2027 (which is the approximate release window, if the rumors end up being confirmed). With 551 released chapters, ORV has more than double the extension of Solo Leveling. This is also a matter of concern for fans, since animating everything with faithful respect for the original will be a problem, even for bigger studios.

If all the planets align and the project falls in the right hands, we could be talking about a tremendous hit with tons of potential, but, will that potential be enough to overcome Sung Jinwoo's reign as the Shadow Monarch?

Other series like TBATE (The Beginning After The End) have already received the anime treatment, and failed spectacularly despite all the hype and tailwind marketing pushing it to become a top-ranked series.

Runner-ups also include manhwa-based anime currently in production, like The Stellar Swordmaster and Eleceed, which are set to become quite popular when they finally arrive on streaming services.

The matter at hand is that ORV will surely spark a new era for Manhwa series. Let's see if the studios will be able to ride the new wave and lead Korean Comics into a second golden age.
