Crunchyroll's Solo Leveling Rival 'Tomb Raider King' Gets A 2026 Release Date

Solo Leveling has become a global sensation since its big debut in 2024. The series continued to rise even further in popularity in 2025, but since then, it's come to a standstill. While avid watchers of the series await the return of Sung Jinwoo, a new anime series that blatantly copies Solo Leveling, called Tomb Raider King, is now on the way. Tomb Raider King takes major inspiration from Solo Leveling, and in the absence of the latter, it would serve as a rather interesting distraction for the fans. A new trailer and visual that might make Solo Leveling fans want to have a peek has now been revealed, and it's certainly looking exciting, to say the least.

Analyzing Tomb Raider King's New Visual and Trailer

When Tomb Raider King was announced, it was immediately clear to see that it looked suspiciously similar to Solo Leveling. As such, it is no surprise to know that fans are calling it a Solo Leveling copy. Despite all the criticism, Tomb Raider King already has a release window. This new anime series is coming to Crunchyroll in July 2026, and while it raises some eyebrows, it is still going to attract fans nonetheless. The exact release date has yet to be determined, but it should be revealed in the next couple of months.

Along with a new release window, Tomb Raider King also revealed a new trailer and key visual that reignited conversation about its plagiarism of Solo Leveling. Given that it became a pioneer in the genre, it is no surprise to know that others simply try to follow in its footsteps, and try to replicate this success.

With that being said, the similarities between Solo Leveling and Tomb Raider King cannot all be attributed to the creator of the latter. A lot of the blame also falls on Redice Studio, which was tasked with creating the manhwa for both Solo Leveling and Tomb Raider King. Redice Studio is known for their repetitive designs and same face syndrome. That is the major reason why Sung Jinwoo and Seo Joo-Heon look so incredibly similar.

Why Tomb Raider King Is A Surprising Successor To A-1 Pictures' Masterpiece

Solo Leveling’s most ardent followers aren't particularly thrilled at this new copy series receiving an anime adaptation, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Solo Leveling, at the moment, has no officially confirmed projects coming in 2026. Not only that, but its sequel manhwa, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, is currently on hiatus. With that in mind, the Solo Leveling franchise doesn't have much to offer this year.

With Solo Leveling and Tomb Raider being so similar, it offers a great opportunity for the fans to indulge in a somewhat similar yet different story that gives a familiar feeling. Tomb Raider will never be a true replacement for Solo Leveling but it will still be a series that some will enjoy watching. At the end of the day, it is also possible that this series ends up being a big surprise for the fans and blows them away with the story it delivers. In either case, it is worth a watch. As the summer season approaches, it is highly likely that more content about Tomb Raider King will be revealed, such as a final trailer, and new visuals to hype up an already intrigued fanbase.
