Solo Leveling has garnered incredible popularity globally following its sensational adaptation from Japanese studios Aniplex and A-1 Pictures. While the Solo Leveling anime is made in Japan, the story originates from South Korea, where it was first created by Chugong as a web novel and later turned into a manhwa. Due to the story stemming from a manhwa, Solo Leveling volumes took some time to reach Japan. Finally, on June 23, 2026, Solo Leveling is set to conclude its run in Japan with the release of Volume 25. While Solo Leveling’s manhwa run is now over, Japanese fans can still look forward to a potential import of Ragnarok, as well as the continuation of the TV anime of this hit series.
Solo Leveling Releases Final Volume In Japan On June 23, 2026, And Ends A Legendary 7-Year Run
Solo Leveling is a series originally written by South Korean author Chugong from July 25, 2016, to March 13, 2018. This series started as a web novel, but with its popularity, it was picked up and adapted by Redice Studio into a Manhwa, beginning its run on March 4, 2018, and concluding on December 29, 2021. These dates are specifically allied to its release in Korea, but with its wide acclaim, the story went on to reach Japan, despite heavy opposing competitors in manga.
On December 23, 2019, the series went on to be released to the Japanese public by Kadokawa. Since then, it has continued serialization there, and now, in 2026, this run is reaching its end. On June 23, 2026, the final volume of Solo Leveling is going to be released in Japan, and this is Volume 25. This volume release will be monumental and marks the end of the Manhwa in the country.
With 24 volumes so far and a few years of run, the series has managed to accumulate 3.8 million sales — a number that is only going to increase moving forward. The series can easily break the 4 million mark with its final volume release, and while 3.8 million might sound low for a series like Solo Leveling, it must be remembered that it only recently got an anime, and that a lot of the story’s consumption in Japan and worldwide is online. For the occasion of Solo Leveling Volume 25 release in Japan, a new illustration featuring Sung Jinwoo in his iconic glowing purple form in the center has been showcased.

Why Solo Leveling Has More Volume Releases In Japan Than In Korea
Upon hearing the news of Solo Leveling getting its 25th and final Volume in Japan, some fans might be confused about the volume count in the country. This is only natural, as, in South Korea and the rest of the world, Solo Leveling only has 15 volumes. However, Japan's case is very different. Seeing that Solo Leveling has to adapt to a Japanese market used to manga instead of Manhwa, the series’ release has been switched here.
The Solo Leveling Manhwa volumes are bigger than Japanese manga volumes, to fit the market better Solo Leveling volumes in Japan were made smaller, and as such, the range of volumes expanded. In that sense, the content in the 25 Japanese volumes is the same as the 15 in South Korea. The only thing Japan gets more is volume covers, which is definitely a nice perk that comes with the Japanese version, and something that fans might want to collect.

Solo Leveling’s Adventure Continues In Japan With A New Season Release and Ragnarok Sequel
The Solo Leveling Manhwa is over, and with it, the main story of Sung Jinwoo has concluded. Of course, while that’s sad, the franchise as a whole is far from done. With Jinwoo’s story fully adapted in Japan, it is now time for its sequel series, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, to make its entrance and show the world what it can do. No official announcement for Ragnarok has been made yet, but seeing the immense profits from Solo Leveling, it will surely continue only in a matter of time. Solo Leveling sequel featuring the story of his son, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, has already proven popular in Japan through digital release, so an actual physical one is definitely needed now.
There is also the Solo Leveling anime to consider, which is being brought to life by two Japanese studios, Aniplex and A-1 Pictures. Recently, it was teased that the series was on the way to make a comeback. Solo Leveling doesn’t yet have a return date following the conclusion of its second season, but based on comments from Crunchyroll CEO and A-1 Pictures Producer, the series is under work at the moment with a possible announcement anytime now. Fans anticipate either a third TV anime season or a brand new theatrical release.
