Mushrooms (or Shrooms) are one of the final products in Schedule 1 that you can sell to your customers. While it’s not as expensive as some Meths, the easy process of crafting mushrooms makes it an ideal product to target in the latter half of the game.
Unlike most other products, the mushroom does not have any effect on consumers. It is also one of the least addictive drug types in-game. The only drawback to growing Shrooms is the fact that they need their very own type of lab equipment and ingredients, which we'll showcase in this guide.
All Quests in Schedule 1 (Mission List)
There are currently 24 quests in Schedule 1, the first three of which are part of the game's prologue.
How to Unlock Fungal Phil & Shrooms in Schedule 1
- You can only grow mushrooms after you progress far enough into the Downtown region, which is unlocked by reaching the Enforcer rank.
You will need to get shrooms from Fungal Phil, who is Downtown's supplier. In order to do this, you're first going to have to find and reach "Friendly" rank with Kevin Oakley or Elizabeth Homley.
This can be easily done by quickly delivering their requested products or even offering some drugs to them before they request anything. The next time you speak with one of these characters, they will add Fungal Phil as a contact to your phone.
With Fungal Phil added to your phone, you can send him messages and purchase ingredients that no other supplier in Hyland offers.
Elizabeth is usually found in the narrow alley between the Slop Shop and the Hyland Police Station.

Before contacting Fungal Phil, you will need to visit Oscar’s shop in the warehouse and purchase the following items:
- Mushroom Spawn Station
- Mushroom Bed
A single Spawn Station should be enough, but the Mushroom Bed acts more like a pot for regular products. If you want to start big, you are going to need more than a few Mushroom Beds.
Now, visit Dan’s Hardware and purchase the AC Unit and Spray Bottle. The former is required to create the ideal temperature conditions for growing mushrooms, while the latter is the only tool that can water a Mushroom Bed.
With the items listed above, it's time to contact Fungal Phil and order the following materials:
- Grain Bag
- Spore Syringe
- Mushroom Substrate
These are the repeated requirements to grow mushrooms. You are going to need one instance of each ingredient every time that you grow Shrooms.
How to Grow Mushrooms in Schedule 1
- Head to the Mushroom Spawn Station and place a Grain Bag along with a Spore Syringe in the empty slots.
- Inject the liquid inside the syringe into the grain bag, and grab Shroom Spawn as the product.
- Pick a Mushroom Substrate and pour it inside the Mushroom Bed.
- The substrate will act as a special soil for growing Shrooms.
- Drop the Shroom Spawn on the Mushroom Bed and repeatedly slice it until you have tiny balls of Shroom.
- Once you have the Shroom Balls, bury them under substrate.
A bug might cause Shroom Spawn to drop off the Mushroom Bed. If it happens, you won’t be able to progress towards the next step. So, cancel the process and start slicing the Shroom Spawn from the beginning. This clipping may also occur for Shroom Balls.
- Place an AC Unit near the Mushroom Bed.
- The temperature must be lower than usual, which means you need to switch the AC Unit to the Cooling mode by pressing the blue button.
- The final step is watering the Mushroom Bed.
- Fill the Spray Bottle with tap water, and then point at the requested spots and spray some water.
- Mushrooms grow at a slower pace, and they require plenty of water.
- As soon as the growth rate reaches 100%, you are ready to pick up the mushrooms using a Plant Trimmer.
You are going to need to water the bed once again when the growth rate reaches 56%.
How to Increase the Quality of Mushrooms in Schedule 1
Following the process above will only result in a standard-quality mushroom. If you want a better product, adding Fertilizer before watering the Mushroom Bed will increase the quality by one level, making the final product Premium quality.
The good news is that quality can still go higher, but the bad news is that it will take some time. Hanging mushrooms from a drying rack will increase their quality to the maximum level, but reaching each new level of quality requires 12 in-game hours.
You can reduce the amount of time needed for drying mushrooms by placing an AC Unit near a rack and setting it to Heat mode. This will decrease the required time from 12 hours to 8 hours, which is 33% faster.
Depending on the quality of the harvested mushrooms, the drying period to reach maximum quality will be different. In case you pour PGR onto the Mushroom Bed to increase the yield, the final quality will drop by one level. Using Speed Grow will also have a similar effect, though it helps mushrooms to grow faster.
How to Add Effects to Mushrooms in Schedule 1
Mushrooms are a final product on their own that can be listed and sold. However, it will be flavorless with no effects if you don't add anything else.
To add effects to mushrooms, you need to mix them with other ingredients using a Mixing Station Mk2 machine. The base version of Mixing Station is not compatible with Shrooms.
Adding effects is a process of trial and error. You can buy new flavors from Gas Mart near the Car Wash and then mix them with mushrooms to discover new variants. However, if you have already mastered crafting new flavors with Meths, the mushroom will also bring the same results when mixed with the same flavors.
