A Resident Evil "Reunion" is scheduled for August 26, with Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft taking center stage for a one-night event. August is shaping up to be a busy month for video games, as it often is, thanks to upcoming events like Gamescom, but Rockstar Games also just confirmed an extended look is coming to Grand Theft Auto 6 on August 27, exclusively via Netflix. At the very least, it seems this event is getting out of the way.

No doubt, though, Resident Evil Requiem's depictions of Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft go a long way in making the game feel top-notch. As GameRant wrote in its Resident Evil Requiem review, "Resident Evil Requiem's gripping story and intoxicating gameplay blend are wrapped up in a perfectly polished experience with eye-popping graphics and a blood-pumping soundtrack. Resident Evil Requiem is a horror gaming masterpiece and one of the best games Capcom has ever made."

Resident Evil Reunion: Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft

The Future Games Show takes place on August 26, 2026, to coincide with then-ongoing Gamescom events, and actors Angela Sant'Albano (Grace Ashcroft) and Nick Apostolides (Leon Kennedy) are set to host the show. This has led many fans to hope that new Resident Evil Requiem news comes out of FGS, but that's unlikely. If Resident Evil Requiem does have any kind of presence at the end of August, it would most likely be on the Gamescom stage proper, but perhaps Sant'Albano and Apostolides will do fans the kind favor of at least slipping into character for a moment. It should be a good night nonetheless.

Gamescom Opening Night Live takes place on August 25 at 11 am PT/2 pm ET, as hosted by Geoff Keighley, and Resident Evil Requiem could be there to show off DLC coming in 2027. It's most likely set for 2027, and not 2026, because reliable insiders have suggested that the Requiem DLC will come after Resident Evil Veronica, the remake of Code: Veronica. Many fans assume Resident Evil Veronica will be at Gamescom (or Tokyo Game Show shortly thereafter), but it's worth noting that neither Gamescom nor Capcom have confirmed this as of this writing.

Still, it would be surprising for Capcom to miss out on one of the biggest stages in all of gaming, especially with the franchise's recent accolades. Capcom recently released sales figures that reveal Resident Evil 5 is no longer the best-selling game in the franchiseResident Evil 2 remake is, with 19.5 million copies sold. Overall, the Resident Evil franchise has crossed 213 million units worldwide. Capcom also gave an update that Resident Evil Requiem has crossed 8 million units sold, and given that these games tend to have a long tail, it would not be a surprise for Requiem to pop into the top 5, top 3, or top spot someday in the near future.

All fans can do right now is play another playthrough of Resident Evil Requiem, hope Resident Evil: Veronica is at Gamescom, and/or wait patiently for more news on the franchise, but the good news is, if it's at Gamescom, that wait is indeed dwindling.
