Merchant Requests are optional side quests in the Resident Evil 4 remake that reward players with Spinel, an in-game currency. Spinel can later be traded with the Merchant to unlock additional items, such as weapon attachments.

In the original Resident Evil 4, Leon S. Kennedy only had one side quest: locating and destroying 15 blue medallions scattered across parts of the map. Completing it rewarded him with the Punisher handgun, which is one of the better weapons in the game.

In the Resident Evil 4 remake, Merchant side quests return and expand on that idea. There are now 19 Merchant Requests across the first 15 chapters.

How to Complete All 19 Merchant Missions in RE4 Remake

Completing all Merchant Requests rewards players with 84 Spinel, which is more than enough to obtain some of the best items in the game.

Request #1: Destroy All Blue Medallions

The first Merchant Request in the Resident Evil 4 remake is very similar to the side quest from the original game. It tasks players with destroying five blue medallions, all of which can be found nearby. The locations of all five medallions are shown in the image above.

Request #2: Pest Control

After escaping from the basement in Chapter 2, the player comes across the second Merchant Request in the Abandoned Factory. The objective is simple: kill three rats in the factory.

Rats move quickly and tend to run away when players get too close. So, players should stand still near an area where rats spawn, as this gives them a better chance of landing a shot.

Request #3: Viper Hunter

  • Chapter: 3
  • Location: Town Hall
  • Prize: Spinel ×4
  • Description: Sell 3 Vipers.
  • Dedicated Guide: Where to Find Vipers

The Merchant in Chapter 3 asks Leon to bring him three Vipers (snakes). These animals can be found at the Fish Farm, where Leon finds the boat fuel. Melee weapons such as Leon's knife and the Bolt Thrower are excellent for hunting vipers. However, players who want to avoid taking damage from their attacks can also eliminate them from a safe distance with firearms.

Request #4: Grave Robber

  • Chapter: 3
  • Location: Church (Graveyard)
  • Prize: Spinel ×2
  • Description: Destroy the twin's tombstone.
  • Dedicated Guide: Grave Robber Request Guide

The fourth Merchant Request is in the Church's backyard. It prompts the player to destroy the wicked twin's tombstone emblems, which can be found in the nearby graveyard. As GameRant's Greysun Morales has explained in his guide, "the two tombstones are in front of a large tree that's on a 45-degree angle. Players should be able to see the church in the background. Both of them will have a symbol that sort of looks like a 'U' but with two little spikes jutting out from the top."

Request #5: Destroy All Blue Medallions 2

At the Quarry, the Merchant requests the destruction of five blue medallions around the area where Leon fights El Gigante for the first time. One of these medallions can be found in the Quarry area, while the rest are near the Fish Farm. (See the images above for marked locations on the map.)

Request #6: Egg Hunt

After beating the lake monster, Leon finds the sixth Merchant Request that asks for a Golden Egg. To complete this objective, the player must ride the boat to the small island on the east flank of the lake, where chickens are roaming. Or they could also postpone the task to Chapter 12, where they get a Golden Egg in Ramon Salazar's throne room.

Request #7: Catch Me a Big Fish

In Chapter 4, the Merchant asks for a Lunker Bass, a rare giant fish. To catch this creature, the player must go to the Boat House and kill it with the harpoon.

Request #8: A Savage Mutt

After the cabin fight, Leon finds the eighth Request at the Town Hall. It prompts him to defeat a wild dog (a Colmillos) haunting the Merchant. For this side quest, the player must return to the Village Chief's Manor and kill the giant infected dog.

Request #9: Destroy All Blue Medallions 3

The ninth Merchant Request is a classic blue medallion destruction mission. This time, the player must scan the area near the Castle Gate to find and break all 6 cursed objects. (See the images above.)

Request #10: Destroy All Blue Medallions 4

Another blue medallion objective is inside the Castle, where Leon must solve the headless statue puzzle. Like the previous ones, this Request is completed by shooting six blue pendants hidden in the Castle Grand Hall. (See the images above.)

Request #11: More Pest Control

For the eleventh Merchant Request, the player must clean the Grand Hall and Library area from rats. They should kill at least three of these filthy creatures to get the prize.

Request #12: Merciless Knight

After saving Leon as Ashley, he comes across the twelfth Merchant Request in the Castle. The blue note says that he must kill a threatening Armadura, a knight-like creature, which lurks in the Mausoleum.

Request #13: Insect Hive

After the minecart ride in Resident Evil 4's Chapter 11, Luis and Leon enter the Novistadors' hive, where they find the thirteenth Request: Destroy all hive entrances. To get it done, the player must shoot the four pulsing shiny hive entrances.

Request #14: Jewel Thief

At the Clock Tower rooftop, Leon finds the fourteenth Request, Jewel Thief, which asks him for a Scratched Emerald. To complete this side quest, the player must shoot the crow's nest above the Courtyard's entrance and retrieve the green gem.

Request #15: The Disgrace of the Salazar Family

Before facing Ramon Salazar, the player finds a Request that asks for a strange favor: Disrespect Salazar's portrait. To finish the Disgrace of the Salazar Family, the player must first locate Ramon's throne and then vandalize his portrait with an egg.

Request #16: Destroy the Blue Medallions 5

The sixteenth Request is found near the Merchant site at Facility 1 Storage. It prompts the player to destroy five hidden blue medallions near the storage.

Request #17: Even More Pest Control

  • Chapter: 14
  • Location: Cargo Depot (Waste Disposal)
  • Prize: Spinel ×3
  • Description: Kill 4 rats
  • Dedicated Guide: Waste Disposal Rat Locations

For the seventeenth Merchant Request, the player must eliminate at least four infected rats around the Waste Disposal area.

Request #18: The Wandering Dead

After retrieving the wrench in the Incubation Lab in Resident Evil 4's Chapter 13, the player must go back to this location to fight off an Iron Maiden. Killing this thorn-throwing creature would fulfill the Merchant's eighteenth Request.

Request #19: Destroy All Blue Medallions 6

The final Merchant Request in Chapter 15 is the same as the first one: Find and destroy five blue medallions. (Reading the blue note reveals the locations of all these pendants on the map.)
