REPO’s Cosmetics Update launch not only introduced new cosmetics and vehicles, but it also added three new staffs for players. Staffs are activated by holding the weapon upward until the crystal charges, then aiming at a target and pressing the interact key again to fire the spell. Each staff works slightly differently, but they all follow the same basic mechanics in REPO. When activated, the Staff shoots a magical projectile that applies a special effect to enemies, objects, and sometimes even your teammates caught in the blast.

There are currently three Staffs available in R.E.P.O. after the Cosmetics Update. Each one focuses on crowd control instead of raw damage.

Best Used for

Zero Gravity Staff

$14K to $20K

10

When fired, it creates a floating effect that lifts enemies into the air and leaves them helpless for a short time.

Works best as a defensive tool instead of a finishing weapon in REPO. Players can use it to stop enemies from blocking narrow hallways, escape dead ends, or buy time during an extraction run.

Roll Staff

$22K to $30K

10

This staff applies the same effect as the Roll Drone, forcing enemies to tumble uncontrollably across the map.

Works best in tight spaces where enemies are more likely to collide with hard surfaces. Shooting monsters near staircases, corners, or railings increases the chance of extra damage.

It becomes especially effective on maps with pits or elevated areas since monsters can be knocked straight off the edge.

Void Staff

$22K to $32K

3

When activated, it creates a black hole effect similar to the attack used by Trudge. Nearby enemies and physics-based objects get pulled toward the center, causing chaos in crowded fights.

Works best for panic situations. While it does not directly damage single targets, monsters pulled together can collide and hurt each other.

This staff is very risky around valuables because it drags almost everything into its radius. Loot, carts, loose objects, and even teammates can get caught in the pull. Using it carelessly can destroy valuable items needed to hit quota.

Staffs work much better when paired with guns instead of melee weapons. Crowd control effects create easy openings for firearm damage.

How Staffs Work in REPO

To use a Staff, equip it and point it toward the ceiling. Press the “E” key to begin charging it. You will know it’s ready when the gem at the top starts glowing and sparking. After that, point the Staff toward your target and press “E” again to release the spell.

Unlike regular melee weapons, Staffs are more about crowd control and creating space. Timing matters a lot because the effects can hit monsters, valuables, the C.A.R.T., and other semibots at the same time. Accidentally using a Staff near loot can ruin a run instantly.

Most Staff effects stay active for several seconds, giving you enough time to escape, reposition, or follow up with stronger weapons.

Friendly fire is always active with Staffs, so positioning matters constantly. Casting spells too close to teammates can even damage them.

Staffs are pretty expensive, but they can completely change how a run feels. Players who like mobility, control, and defensive playstyles will probably get more value from them than players focused purely on damage output.

  • The Zero Gravity Staff is the safest one to use because it focuses entirely on control instead of destruction. Since it does not damage valuables, many players consider it the most reliable support Staff in the game.
  • The Roll Staff is better for aggressive players who enjoy environmental kills and chaotic fights.
  • The Void Staff is incredibly strong in the right moment, but its limited charges and destructive pull make it more of a late-game luxury item than an essential purchase.

FAQs

How do you activate Staffs in REPO?

Raise the staff upward and press “E” to charge it. Once the crystal glows, aim at a target and press “E” again to fire the spell.

Which Staff is the best in REPO?

The Zero Gravity Staff is generally the most reliable because it can disable enemies safely without damaging valuables.

Can Staffs hurt teammates?

Yes. All Staffs can affect teammates, and some can also damage or destroy valuables and objects nearby.

Does the Void Staff instantly kill enemies?

Not directly. The Void Staff mainly pulls enemies together, but collision damage between monsters can still hurt or kill them.

If you want to get more out of the latest REPO update, it is worth checking out the new vehicles as well, including the Scouter and Hauler, since both can make loot runs much easier during higher-level missions. Those who want to explore every hidden area in the Service Station should also learn where all the new Secret Shop Rooms are located and how to access them after the Cosmetics Update.
