As April begins to wind down, eyes begin to turn toward May. PS Plus subscribers know to expect the official announcement of the PS Plus free games for May 2026 (The Essential Tier) on Wednesday, April 29, as the announcement always takes place on the last Wednesday ahead of the first Tuesday of the month. That Tuesday in this case, May 5, is the day the new PS Plus games will be added.
As to what they are, that's anyone's guess. The Essential Tier of PS Plus does tend to focus on picking and providing for a specific niche or two. Meanwhile, the PS Plus Extra selection tends to cast a wide net: big games to cover headlines, more popular niches, and some odds and ends thrown in. It remains to be seen what comes in May 2026, but each of the following games would be an excellent addition to the service.
PS Plus is Losing At Least 8 Games in May 2026, Including One of Its Best Titles
PlayStation confirms at least eight more games will leave PS Plus in May 2026, one of which will be a huge blow to subscribers.
PS Plus Free Game for May 2026 Wish List - Star Wars Battlefront 2
May 5 is, huge shocker, the day after May 4. May 4, huge shocker, is often celebrated as Star Wars day, and fans can expect some announcements revolving around in-development Star Wars games and other media.
It only makes sense to add one to PS Plus for the month, and while any Star Wars game would do, supporting a return (or inviting new players) to Star Wars Battlefront 2 would see a huge morale and momentum boost. Not to mention, this supports the catalog of multiplayer games on PS Plus.
May Star Wars Battlefront 3 manifest someday.
- Large-scale Star Wars shooter with both multiplayer battles and a short story campaign
- Campaign follows an Imperial soldier and bridges events between major films
- Multiplayer features 40-player matches across iconic planets and eras
- Play as regular troops, vehicles, or famous heroes like Jedi and Sith
- Includes ground combat and space dogfights with starfighters
- Progression system lets you upgrade abilities and customize playstyles
PS Plus Free Game for May 2026 Wish List - Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Every so often, PS Plus double dips on a game previously on the service (or available in a different tier). While not the most-welcomed practice, a good reason can support bringing a title back to PS Plus (for continuous subscribers, to say nothing of new subscribers). Kena: Bridge of Spirits has a good reason to come back to PS Plus (it was removed in May 2025). That reason is Kena: Scars of Kosmora, a sequel coming in 2026. What better way to promote the sequel than to give fans a chance at the original.
- Story-driven action-adventure game about a young spirit guide helping souls move on
- Set in a lush, corrupted village you gradually heal and restore
- Collect small spirit companions (“Rot”) that help in combat and solve puzzles
- Uses a third-person combat system with melee, ranged attacks, and abilities
- Known for its Pixar-like visuals and emotional, atmospheric tone
PS Plus Free Game for May 2026 Wish List - Signalis
After a game like Resident Evil Requiem proved how to work action gameplay into a survival horror game, fans may want to return to a classic survival horror game. Signalis is a great pick, and honestly, it's surprising that Signalis is not already one of the horror games available on PS Plus. It has that X-factor that makes fans of the genre really fall for it, especially for the protagonist Elster (an android in a dystopian world searching for meaning in it all) and its heavily atmospheric and symbolic story. Plus, a good scare here or there.
- Classic survival horror game focused on exploration, puzzle-solving, and resource management
- You play as Elster, an android searching a dystopian, decaying sci-fi world for lost memories and meaning
- Gameplay blends top-down exploration with tense combat against strange, often surreal enemies
- Set in a retro-futuristic, oppressive regime spread across space and ruined facilities
- Known for its psychological horror tone, minimal hand-holding, and deeply ambiguous storytelling

PS Plus Extra Games for May 2026 Wish List
PS Plus has already confirmed on-railer shooter Time Crisis as the PS Plus Premium game for May. As such, the below list focuses on possible selections for PS Plus Extra in May:
- Lies of P
- Kingdom Come Deliverance
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Stranger of Paradise
- Valkyrie Elysium
- Dynasty Warriors Origins
- Rise of the Ronin
- Wanted: Dead
- Pocky & Rocky Reshrined
The wide net here would service several subsets of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users. There will be a couple of bigger games, typically up to three, and those could consist of any combination of Lies of P (the best non-FromSoftware Soulslike game), Kingdom Come Deliverance (a historical RPG to bolster the sequel), A Plague Tale: Requiem (a more fantastic take on a history-inspired game), or Stranger of Paradise, a solid spin-off of the Final Fantasy franchise. Any of these would fulfill the normal role of the headlining games. Meanwhile, games like Valkyrie Elysium, Dynasty Warrior Origins, and/or Rise of the Ronin could serve the more middle road AA fans, while Wanted: Dead and Pocky & Rocky Reshrined hone in on their specific niche.
Ultimately, it all remains to be seen, but PS Plus fans will learn more sooner rather than later. The PS Plus free games for May 2026 announcement is expected on April 29, barring something like a surprise State of Play from PlayStation.
