Now that toriyama is dead (R.I.P.) there is nothing stopping the destruction of the dragonball franchise. Toriyama could have wanted to push more stronger characters instead of JUST goku and Vegeta. After all, that is why DragonBall Z was so popular. It was more than just Goku and Vegeta. In Z, the initial goal was to make Gohan stronger than Goku to turn him into the main character. The fans pushed back. Then it was to have Gohan become smarter AND stronger. I didnt like the push of Super to abandon the rest of the characters. Even Buu was cast aside until the MORO Arc. I have a feeling that if toriyama was still alive, he would want to focus on bringing Gohan and piccolo up to Goku and vegita levels and surpass them, to have larger villain arcs that required all of them fighting together.
