The most visually distinct and important part of the Power Rangers is easily the color coordination. Each of the Rangers has specific colors and, more often than not, those colors signify something among the Rangers. These stereotypes aren't often followed, but they help set a precedent for a character without revealing anything about them.
Without a doubt, some of the Power Rangers colors are more popular than others, but that doesn't necessarily make them better. Each of the colors has something important they bring to the field of battle or to the training hall. Ultimately, no Power Ranger can be good at everything, but a Ranger's specific color can generate an idea of what their overall skills might be.
11 There Has Only Been One Official Orange Ranger, So Far

As of 2026, there has only been one official Orange Ranger in the entirety of the Power Rangers. Right now, the honor lies solely with Fern of the Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury iteration. She serves as a rival to her girlfriend Izzy before joining the team once their romance officially blossoms. That being said, since there is so little to go off of, the Orange Rangers' have some of the worst showings in the franchise.
Even counting the non-canonical S.P.D. Orange Ranger and the Kat Ranger under the color, there simply aren't enough feats when compared to the other Rangers. Fern is an incredible combatant, and her skills are widely apparent, but that doesn't make up for an entire franchise's worth of absences. Hopefully, more adaptations will take the Super Sentai route and make Orange a recurring color within the series.
10 Purple Rangers Are Incredibly Rare, But Powerful

Purple is another of the extremely rare Power Rangers colors. Yet, the Purple Rangers also possess two of the strongest combatants the franchise has ever seen. While R.J. and Tarrick are certainly impressive, they aren't enough to make up for the fact that they remain the colors' best showing.
Purple might be one of the most popular colors on the spectrum, but it is readily avoided within Power Rangers. More often than not, the color is associated with evil on the show, meaning that it is often underutilized. Thankfully, recent Power Rangers iterations have been more comfortable adding more interesting costumes and colors.
9 Yellow Rangers are Typically More Tactical Fighters

Yellow Rangers are often some of the best tactical fighters in the franchise. They have some incredible members, like Taylor Eardhardt, who led the Wild Force Rangers, and Trini Kwan, who is one of the only Rangers to sacrifice herself in battle. Yet, the other Yellow Rangers' relatively minimal showing causes the whole group to suffer.
Typically, Yellow Rangers prefer to assess the battle from the outside before directly engaging in combat. They are usually the most intelligent members, second to the blue, and regularly assist with Zord care and maintenance. More often than not, Yellow Rangers are actually better outside of battle than during it.
8 White Rangers Are Usually Evil Rangers, Turned Good, Or Mentor Figures

The White Rangers are often some of the most powerful members of any Rangers' team, but that often comes with a catch. Each White Ranger usually either begins as a minor antagonist, or functions more as a mentor than an active member of the team. The White Rangers are often incredibly strong, but that strength is sometimes exercised on the Rangers themselves rather than their enemies.
Trent Fernandez, Tommy Oliver, and Dominic Hargan all attempted to defeat the Power Rangers before eventually joining them. Ultimately, the White Rangers have some incredible power, but that doesn't justify the road they take to get it. Moreover, each White Ranger has a chance to return to their evil ways if they suffer further manipulation.
7 Blue Rangers Are Usually the Genius' Of Their Respective Team

The Blue Rangers are usually the most intelligent members of each respective group. This policy began with Billy Cranston and regularly continued throughout the iterations. Not every Blue Ranger is a genius, but they are most often the smartest members in each adaptation. The Blue Rangers, who aren't expressly intelligent, are usually strict rule followers.
Aside from Billy, the Blue Rangers have had some truly incredible members, like Sky Tate and Theo Martin. These members are classified not only by their intelligence, but their desire to become the Red Ranger. Sadly, only Sky ever actually accomplishes his dreams and eventually becomes the S.P.D. Dekka Ranger.
6 The Pink Rangers Have Had Several Notable Leaders Including, Jen Scotts

The Pink Rangers are usually the heart of their Ranger team, but they are also some of the most popular. Jen Scotts, the Pink Time Force Ranger, is also one of the only Pink Rangers to lead the Red Ranger into battle. Modern Pink Rangers, save Amelia Jones, suffered from a minor damsel-in-distress complex, but that issue has been clearly fixed.
Pink Rangers are without a doubt some of the most important members of each team. They hold the team together and help build morale no matter the odds. Jen might be the most serious of the Pink Rangers, but that is the entire point of her character. Yet, she probably deserved the Red Ranger role anyway.
5 The Black Ranger Initially Served as the Powere Rangers Second-In-Command

The Black Rangers were originally meant to serve as the Red Rangers second-in-command. The first Black Ranger was Zack Taylor, who mixed his impressive dance moves into his martial arts to create his own style. From then on, the Black Rangers were known for their ingenuity and strength.
Tommy Oliver eventually takes on the role of Black Ranger when he mentors the Dino Thunder Rangers. This alone gives a lot more credibility to the color since he is one of the strongest Power Rangers of all time. Aside from that, the Black Rangers are usually the strongest member of their respective series.
4 The Silver Ranger is One of the Rarest, But Coolest Power Ranger Colors

Silver Rangers are decidedly rare, but each of them are extremely cool. The Titanium Ranger is even a completely original Power Rangers creation, without the use of Super Sentai footage. A majority of the Silver Rangers have access to power on a different level than the regular Rangers, and often take on the "sixth ranger" role within a series.
Given the popularity of the Titanium Ranger alone, the Silver Rangers are some of the greatest in every adaptation. With members like Merrick Baliton, Zhane, and Tyzonne, the color contains many of the greatest combatants within the series. It also has Orion, who has the power of every previous sixth Ranger within the entire francihse.
3 The Green Ranger Is Usually Either Comedic Relief or an Absolute Powerhouse

Over time, the Green Rangers have become a relatively common color among the team. Yet, Tommy Oliver's role as the Green Ranger has forever made the color iconic. While no one has ever held the same aura as Tommy Oliver's Green Ranger, several Rangers to follow have tried. Some of the most notable have been Cam Watanabe, Trip, and Bridge Carson.
Obviously, Tommy Oliver is the greatest member the Green Rangers have ever had. However, the other members make the role what it is. The other Green Rangers establish the more fun-loving side of the color, while Oliver makes sure it is never forgotten.
2 The Gold Rangers are Often the Most Visually Distinct of the Rangers

One of the most popular Power Rangers colors is Gold for obvious reasons. There have only been 9 Gold Rangers within the entire series, but each of those Rangers is frighteningly powerful. Antonio Garcia is easily one of the fastest Rangers the Power Rangers have ever seen, and Jason Lee Scott's reputation speaks for him.
While there haven't been many Gold Rangers, the few who have worn the color have helped make the position iconic. Aside from being the flashiest Rangers, the Gold are most often the coolest in any respective series, but they often receive some sort of set back to level the playing field for the existing team.
