Power Rangers is one of the most beloved tokustasu series worldwide. The series began in the early 90s and has continued since then. The franchise has been through many reboots and rebrands, making each iteration of the show drastically different. However, they all have one thing in common; every version of the Power Ranger has a Red Ranger. Yet, not all of these fearless leaders are created equally.

22 Lightspeed Rescue's Red Ranger Is the Least Memorable Classic Ranger

Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

Lightspeed Rescue is one of the most hated seasons of the classic franchise, and the Red Lightspeed Ranger catches a lot of the flack. Most of the criticisms lobbied at the ranger apply to the whole series as well, but they still bring down the Lightspeed Red ranger in comparison to his competition. One of fan's biggest complaints with the iteration is that it largely removed the mysticism and mystery from the franchise. All the Red Lightspeed ranger's gear is handmade and there was no destination involved in his selection for the role, making Carter Grayson seem far less special by comparison.

21 The Red Galaxy Ranger Fights Some Interesting Space Creatures

Power Rangers:Lost Galaxy

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

Leo Corbett is one of the many rangers who wasn't originally meant for the role. His older brother Mike originally received the mantle of Red Ranger, but Leo took on the position quickly after his apparent death. Leo remains one of the most serious Red Ranger's in the franchise, and his stoic attitude largely shaped the idea that the Red Ranger needed to be a serious figure. Previous Red Rangers were certainly serious, but Danny Slavin's performance as Leo Corbett certainly takes the cake as one of the least jovial rangers.

20 Brody Romero's Red Ninja Steel Ranger Feels Like a Bland Copy of his Predecessors

Power Rangers: Ninja Steel

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel

Brody Romero is kidnaped from earth during the Power Ranger Operation Overdrive season. Since then, the young earthling had been living on the ship of the big bad of his iteration, Galvanax. Romero ends up finding his way to earth over time with the ability to transform him and several other teenagers into the Power Rangers. Sadly, the character really doesn't stand out other than his interesting backstory. He and the other Ninja Steel rangers simply feel like copies of other Ninja Rangers.

19 Mack Hartfort's Red Overdrive Ranger Simply Isn't Memorable

Power Rangers: Overdrive

The Rangers posing in Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive

Mack Hartfort's Red Overdrive ranger mostly suffers from issues plaguing his iteration of Power Rangers. Disney didn't provide the show with near enough funding and the laughable scripts made the whole production feel rushed. The character designs were cool, but that isn't nearly enough to compete with many of the other rangers on this list. That said, if the Overdrive designs weren't so nostalgic, Hartfort would probably be lower on the list.

18 The Ninja Storm Red Ranger is the Least Skilled 2000s-Era Red Ranger

Power Rangers: Ninja Storm

Power Rangers Ninja Storm

Interestingly enough, many of the criticisms launched toward the Red Ninja Storm Ranger have more to do with the actor than anything. The late actor suffered through substance abuse issues and had several arrests which somewhat distracted from his role in the show. While his illicit actions took place several years after the series had finished filming, it has made the series' think twice before deciding to include the Red Ninja Storm Ranger in future ranger team-ups.

17 Dino Charge's Red Ranger Manages the Rangers for Two Epic Seasons

Power Rangers: Dino Charge

Power Rangers Dino Charge

The Red Dino Charge Ranger suffers from a large issue that many modern Rangers deal with. He just feels like a copy. There have been several iterations of Power Rangers to use the dinosaur motif and Dino Charge is easily the least interesting. Tyler Navarro isn't given half the character development he deserves, and aside from the cool abilities and powerups, he is nothing more than additional muscle. The Red Dino Charge ranger is good to have in a fight, but probably not the best for leading the team.

16 The Red Space Ranger Is a Member of the Veteran Red Rangers Team

Andros is an incredibly competent fighter, but his quest to save his sister nearly puts the team in danger many times. The Red Space Ranger is the perfect example of how personal quests can sometimes get in the way of Ranger duties. Andros is also famously hard to work with and would rather fight his battles alone than work with his team. He might get better as his iteration goes on, but he's certainly not the Ranger he had the potential to become.

15 Devon Daniel's Red Grid Battleforce Ranger is a Modern Step in the Right Direction

Power Rangers: Beast Morphers

Power Rangers Beast Morphers

Devon Daniels, like many Rangers before and after him, is a hot head. However, Daniels is also famously stubborn. These two traits are absolutely terrible for a leader to have, and they greatly hinder his ability to lead his team effectively. Despite initially being one of three Rangers, Daniels initially finds it incredibly difficult to work as part of a team or trust in others.

14 The Red Dino Thunder Ranger Learns From the Best Ranger of All Time

Power Rangers: Dino Thunder

Power Rangers Dino Thunder

The Red Dino Thunder Ranger, Conner McKnight, has the opportunity to practice under the tutelage of the best Power Ranger of all time. Instead of serving as the de facto leader of the team, McKnight typically takes charge until Tommy Oliver returns to the battlefield. At that point, McKnight wisely listens to Oliver's directions and usually wins the day. The fact that Oliver is training him at all means that he has some of the highest potential out of any Red Ranger in history.

13 Troy Burrows' Red Megaforce Ranger Has Access to Several Classic Powers

Power Rangers: Megaforce

The Megaforce Rangers are some of the least popular modern Power Rangers' iterations due to their clearly toy-inspired power-ups and rushed character arcs. However, their power to call on all the Ranger's past powers throughout the morphing grid makes them incredibly powerful. At any point in time, Troy Burrow's Red Megaforce Ranger could call on the powers of a past Red Ranger to get him through any difficult situation.
