A Pokemon LeafGreen player has completed an unusual challenge, beating the classic game with a team of only green Shiny Pokemon. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen were landmark games when they launched in 2004, marking the first remakes in the history of the franchise. The pair of Kanto remakes added plenty of new features to the games that started the Pokemon craze, including the introduction of the Sevii Islands and new battling mechanics. The games also added Shiny Pokemon to the Kanto region, which were not included in the original release of Pokemon Red and Blue.
Shiny Pokemon have served as some of the most coveted variants in the entire franchise, first introduced in Pokemon's second generation. The alternate-colored versions are some of the rarest creatures players can find in the franchise, having only a 1-in-8,192 chance to appear in the wild under normal circumstances. Many fans of Pokemon have also taken to Shiny hunting after completing the main story of the games, aiming to find specific Shiny variants. Now, one Pokemon LeafGreen player has completed the game with an impressive team composed of only green Shinies.
Pokemon LeafGreen Player Beats the Game With Only Green Shinies
Pokemon streamer Estileto recently completed a playthrough of Pokemon LeafGreen with an extremely unusual team. The stunning team features only green-colored Shiny variants of Pokemon, beating the Elite Four with a party of Venusaur, Kabutops, Espeon, Dragonite, Hitmonlee, and Scizor. The incredible run took two and a half years to complete and included some Pokemon that cannot normally be caught in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. The party notably sports a pair of Pokemon originally from the Johto region, likely trading with one of Pokemon's third-generation Hoenn games in order to add Espeon and Scizor to their team.

The amazing Pokemon accomplishment likely came with plenty of resets for Estileto in order to obtain some of the Shiny versions. Players cannot access the franchise's breeding mechanic before defeating the Elite Four in FireRed and LeafGreen, meaning the streamer likely had to reset in order to obtain their shiny Bulbasaur. The party includes another rare Pokemon as part of the team, with Hitmonlee only available once in the game through the Saffron City Fighting Dojo. Dragonite is also one of the hardest-to-find Pokemon in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, only available in the wild very late in the game within Victory Road or as a reward in the Celadon City Game Corner.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen have seen a major resurgence throughout recent weeks, thanks to the franchise's anniversary celebrations. Game Freak and The Pokemon Company officially re-released the Kanto remakes for the first time to coincide with the 30th anniversary Pokemon Day presentation, making the games available on Switch. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen's re-releases mark the first time an older main-series game has been brought to the Switch, though spin-offs like Pokemon Stadium are included through Nintendo Switch Online.
Pokemon fans have been given plenty to be excited about since the anniversary livestream. Game Freak finally made the long-awaited announcement for the franchise's 10th-generation games, officially confirming Pokemon Winds and Waves for 2027. The broadcast also shared more details about Pokemon Champions, a competitive spin-off of the franchise, alongside Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness being added to the GameCube library available through Nintendo Switch Online. Fans of Pokemon's mobile games were even treated to some special events, teasing anniversary-themed additions to GO, TCG Pocket, and Masters EX. The 30th anniversary of Pokemon should be a lively one as the monster-catching franchise is pulling out all the stops for its festivities.
