This article was updated by Andrea Trama on May 9, 2026, with a list of all the Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It was first published on May 4.

While Starmie finally received a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, one Pokemon fan has created their own version of what the evolved critter could look like. The Pokemon community is well known for creating fan art based on their favorite pocket monsters, and the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A near the end of last year inspired many artistic fans to share original designs based on the new game.

Set in Luminous City in the Kalos region, Pokemon Legends: Z-A presented players with some new game mechanics to keep the adventure fresh. Game Freak also brought back Mega Evolutions from previous generations. Thanks to this, various Pokemon received a Mega form for the first time in the franchise. One of these pocket monsters was Starmie. This enhanced version of the Pokemon featured longer legs, a design choice that left some fans unsatisfied.

Pokemon Fan Shares What Mega Starmie Would Look Like With Longer Arms Instead of Legs

Fortunately, one Reddit user known as HertzBurst has set out to change that by making their own Mega Starmie Z concept, sharing the results for the community to see. Notably, this redesign imagined what the Mega Evolution of Starmie would look like with longer arms instead of legs. While this was the only change the artist seemingly made to the design seen in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it made a drastic difference to the Pokemon’s appearance, and the community has taken notice.

Impressively, this Starmie concept has already earned over 8K upvotes on the Pokemon subreddit. When sharing the post to Reddit, HertzBurst provided a mockup of what the new design would look like in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, along with an image of the creature seemingly walking with its arms. Many users have commented on the design, with many saying they prefer it to the one in the game. Additionally, some joked that the longer arms reminded them of Wario’s mustache.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A added dozens of new Mega Evolutions, and they are:

Pokemon Fan Artists Are Being Inspired by Pokemon Winds and Waves

It is worth noting that many other Pokemon fans have been sharing fan art recently. Besides Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the upcoming Pokemon Winds and Waves have been a big source of inspiration for artists. While there are many details still waiting to be revealed, the first trailer for the games unveiled the starter trio: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. The community has had a heyday creating artwork based on the new Pokemon, with some even imagining what the evolutions for the Gen 10 starters could look like.

Unfortunately, Pokemon Winds and Waves are not coming until 2027, and leaks have suggested that more information might not be revealed this year. With this in mind, more gamers will likely continue to look to previous Pokemon games for inspiration, as fan art continues to be shared on places like Reddit. Time will tell what other creative ideas are shared by the community in the days ahead.
