Abilities define nearly every matchup in Pokemon Champions, shaping how teams deal damage, absorb hits, and control momentum. Unlike moves, abilities are always active, which makes understanding them essential for climbing ranked play. This guide breaks down all abilities in Pokemon Champions, including returning staples and the new mechanics introduced alongside Mega Evolutions.
One of The Most Iconic Pokemon Ever is Quietly Chewing At Pokemon Champions' Meta
Pokemon Champions' meta is filled with pocket monsters that have been successful in the past, and one of them is much better without its Mega.
Abilities are passive effects tied to each Pokemon. Some boost stats or damage, others grant immunities or punish opponents for attacking. In a competitive setting, they often matter more than raw stats because they influence every turn without requiring input.
Many familiar abilities return with identical effects. Mega Evolution plays a major role in Pokemon Champions, granting Pokemon fixed abilities that activate immediately upon transformation. These abilities cannot be changed and often define the Mega’s role entirely.
From classic effects like Adaptability and Levitate to new additions like Dragonize and Mega Sol, Abilities have the potential to influence every aspect of battle. Players who understand how Abilities interact will have a clear advantage as the meta continues to evolve.
Champions' players can change a Pokemon's Ability for VP, but they can only learn Abilities already in that Pokemon's wheelhouse. For example, Drampa can learn Berserk, Sap Sipper, or Cloud Nine, it's hidden Ability. Here are all the Abilities and the Pokemon that have them in Pokemon Champions.
